US Lacrosse Rankings put three of the ISL teams in national top 25:
#6 Georgetown Visitation #8 St. Stephen's & St. Agnes #17 Holton-Arms And, of course, two other local girls teams, both in the WCAC, are also nationally ranked with #3 Bishop Ireton the most acclaimed team in the DMV and Good Counsel closing out the list at #25. There should be some great lax played this Spring around town with lots of great competition. Any predictions on how the teams will do? Who will win the ISL? Who else looks good (Holy Child and Stone Ridge both look to have strong teams)? |
| Yes, overall quality of play is dramatically increasing in the DMV. |
| There is too much talent now in the area for only one or two teams to hoard it. |
| What’s the deal with ncs? |
Its fine.. More about fun than serious lacrosse. Lots of girls who enjoy it but aren't intense. |
| Scrimmage today GV over GCS 12-10 good game |
That sounds like a great game! Two nationally ranked teams. |
| BI got absolutely flattened yesterday in a pre-season scrimmage by St Paul's School for Girls in Baltimore. That #3 ranking is looking awfully optimistic. |

How is pre-season looking for everyone? Where did schools go for Spring Break lacrosse trips?
Also, does anyone know who is in the AA and who is in the A division this year? Did Sidwell move up to AA? Which division are Bullis, EHS, Flint Hill in? AA: SSSAS, Visi, Holton, Stone Ridge, Holy Child, Potomac, ??? A: Maret, NCS, GDS, Madeira, St Andrews ??? |
Bullis won the ISL A championship in 2018 so they have moved back up to AA. Flint Hill moved down to A. Sidwell is A and Episcopal is AA. So: AA: SSSAS, Visi, Holton, Stone Ridge, Holy Child, Potomac, Bullis, Episcopal A: Maret, NCS, GDS, Madeira, St Andrews, Flint Hill, Sidwell, ??? |
| ISL has turned into one of strongest leagues in the US. SSSAS and Visi have been consistently ranked in top ten in US and SR, Holton and Holy Child have gotten much stronger over the past several years. |
All true. It should be an exciting spring if pre-season is any indication. Visi looks fairly unbeatable, with great returning players and strong 2021 additions to varsity. SSSAS may have a down year as their current senior and junior classes are smaller re talent and their 2021s are still maturing (but may end up one of the best classes ever). Holton is fielding a very small but talented team this year. Their weakness will be no depth (especially when the temperatures rise) and the lack of an experienced goalie. It may be hard for them to repeat last year's success. Holy Child and SR are definitely the teams to watch for upsetting the status quo. Both are probably at their strongest ever with talent in all 4 classes. Potomac, Bullis and Episcopal all have some great players, both returning and new, but probably not enough to end up in the top half of the division. All in all a new and exciting time for girls lax in the DMV. |
Apologies for the bad info! While Bullis won the ISL A championship, there was a three-way tie for first place in the ISL A regular season. The winner of the coin toss was Sidwell, so Sidwell is now AA. AA: SSSAS, Visi, Holton, Stone Ridge, Holy Child, Potomac, Episcopal, Sidwell A: Maret, NCS, GDS, Madeira, St Andrews, Flint Hill, Bullis, ??? |
Wait, Sidwell is AA? Unexpected. Good for them. So who was the third school in the 3-way tie with Sidwell and Bullis? |
| Who is looking like the best team this year? |
