ISL Lacrosse

From what I heard the SR-Holton game was very competitive. Both teams looked good. And lets be honest folks, there isn't a coach alive who done't tell his team to hold the ball and pass it around if the game has been crazy close, they are up and there are only a couple minutes left. Its always been the strategy in lacrosse. Its one reason the shot clock was instituted. High school coaches are going to use it until they are no longer allowed.

It is wonderful that we live in an area where so many schools can field highly competitive girls lax teams. It has been a long time coming and I think it is great! Girl power indeed!

It was Visi Hoky Child game where player scored on a free with 4 seconds left. Even Some Visi parents were embarrassed by this. Still a really good game and Visis showed toughness in coming back after being down most of game. And Holy Child is a program on the rise with only one senior who had an impact on the game.

Foul happens with 4 seconds left as player is running near goal. A free is awarded. Does player simply hold ball/pass to teammate once whistle blows or attempts a shot to increase lead to 4 as final horn sounds? And if you were coach, what would you tell that player to do?

Stop complaining!

Why were they embarrassed? It's a competitive game and they're supposed to score goals. It wasn't a rout where they were leading by 20 points and were adding insult to injury.

Watch what happens in NBA when a player attempts to score in final seconds after game out of reach and a stall in place...

Also, does anyone know who is in the AA and who is in the A division this year? Did Sidwell move up to AA? Which division are Bullis, EHS, Flint Hill in?

AA: SSSAS, Visi, Holton, Stone Ridge, Holy Child, Potomac, ???
A: Maret, NCS, GDS, Madeira, St Andrews ???

Bullis won the ISL A championship in 2018 so they have moved back up to AA. Flint Hill moved down to A. Sidwell is A and Episcopal is AA. So:

AA: SSSAS, Visi, Holton, Stone Ridge, Holy Child, Potomac, Bullis, Episcopal
A: Maret, NCS, GDS, Madeira, St Andrews, Flint Hill, Sidwell, ???

Could anyone confirm who is in AA v A?

I agree with this. I couldn't find a master list but I went to the sites for 3 known AA teams (Holton, SR and Visi) and made a list of the common teams for varsity lax.

So, who is going to win the ISL AA this year? Holton is already out (and fell out of national rankings several weeks ago), . Its down to Visi and Saints. I vote for Visi - they are looking fantastic and other than their loss by 1 to BI are having a great season.

As for the Va State champs, I'd bet on BI to beat Saints again this year. BI started off slow with lots of injured players but seems to be back to full strength. Saints looks to be down this year and next but back on top for 2021.

BI will be there at the end. Sofield plays the toughest schedule so that his players are ready for playoffs. They have owned the Saints for a while and it has gotten to the point where Saints won’t even schedule a game against BI. But Saints can’t avoid them in VA playoffs and Saints will lose to BI once again this year.

Agree. BI always starts off looking mediocre and improves dramatically as the season progresses. Next year will be the same as BI's 2020 class is the strongest, by far, in the area - might be only school with a good 2020 girls lax class around here. Saints 2020 class is weak. The year that the tables will turn though is 2021. Saints 2021 class is the best in years and BI only has 2-3 strong 2021s.

Saints cares more about the ISL than the VA states though I think. I dont see them winning the ISL this year either. Visi will win it again.

Big game tomorrow - the two top ISL teams, Saints and Visi, finally play.

Saints in a close game. Watch KJ pull a stick check at a crucial moment.

LOL - It should be considered "coaching malpractice" if any coach did not, especially in a big game at a 'crucial moment'.

Best of luck to both teams. Let's hope for a great game, great reffing and great parents!
