| Is there any chance they change the rules in lacrosse to eliminate the draw and put in a shot clock? Lacrosse appears to be the only sport where possession is so critical to the outcome, but no team is ever guaranteed of having it. See football, basketball, baseball, tennis, soccer. All have alternating possession because the belief is the play on the field should determine the outcome, not a random moment. If the Golden State Warriors lost every jump ball, they would still be the winningest team in the NBA because they are the best team and the jump ball is simply a way to get the game started. If they were a lacrosse team that lost every draw, they would probably lose most of their games. |
The NCAA implemented a shot clock for women's lacrosse several years ago. Not sure why the ISL has not adopted it for the girls' high school games. The NCAA adopted a shot clock for men's lacrosse this year, and the IAC and VISAA immediately adopted it for the boys' high school games. |
| In the early 90s, in men's lacrosse at least, the face-off following goals was eliminated. But it actually made the games a lot more boring because it was harder to go on runs, etc. So they quickly added the face-off back in. There are certainly pros and cons of the face-off and draw controls, but they do make the game more exciting on the whole. |

I don't mind the FO, but agree on shot clock!
Also, for middle school girls lax at least, they need to do what the boys league does. If the other side is in shooting space, but you have scored, it doesn't get called back. You finish your play and the penalty is called when the offending team gets possession. |
| I completely agree that a shot clock would make a huge difference to play for the girls just like it did this year (last year?) for the boys. It is an idea whose time has come. While the draw still will be important, a shot clock also will mitigate its prevailing dominance on the outcome of the game. A shot clock really improves the pace of play making for much more exciting games. |
