Well the week three UA/Inside Lacrosse natl rankings are out and Holton has fallen off the list completely. BI and SSAS are struggling. Visi is doing the best so far at #4. Under Armour/IL Girls' Top 25 High School Power Rankings Week 4 is out. Visi has fallen 8 spots after 2 losses to NJ teams. BI has risen 3 spots. Saints is almost off the list having fallen down to #24 even though they have only lost one game this season. Their schedule just isn't as strong as the other DC powerhouse teams.
Big game today with #12 Visi playing #17 BI, and the Stone Ridge - Holton game should also be a good one. National Top 25 Power Rankings 1 McDonogh School (Md.) 2 Manhasset (N.Y.) 3 Mt. Sinai (N.Y.) 4 American Heritage-Delray (Fla.) 5 Eastport-South Manor (N.Y.) 6 Moorestown (N.J.) 7 Glenelg (Md.) 8 Ridgewood (N.J.) 9 Cold Spring Harbor (N.Y.) 10 Darien (Conn.) 11 Christian Brothers Academy (N.Y.) 12 Georgetown Visitation (D.C.) 13 Garden City (N.Y.) 14 Milton (Ga.) 15 Summit (N.J.) 16 Notre Dame Prep (Md.) 17 Bishop Ireton (Va.) 18 Northport (N.Y) 19 St. Paul's School for Girls (Md.) 20 Lake Highland Prep (Fla.) 21 Episcopal Academy (Pa.) 22 Agnes Irwin (Pa.) 23 Roland Park Country (Md.) 24 Sts. Bullis is in the AA by virtue of winning the A playoffs last year. Sidwell and NCS (the 3rd team in the tie) both stay in the A. |
| Great game btw Visi and BI yesterday. Impressive comeback win by BI. Looks like BI is finally healthy and ready to roll …. again. |
| It was a fantastic game that either team could have won. BI got down early, but clawed their way back into it. Both programs are loaded with talent and excellent coaching, and it's a treat for fans in this area to watch them play. |
+1 ..... Couldn’t make it to the game - but big thanks to the BI Lax twitter account to be able to read back the play by play!! Best of luck to both programs!! |
| SR and Holton game was intense but Holton ended up winning by 3. Even though SR has a huge team and Holton a small one, neither really took out starters. |
| Please weigh in: really hard fought game one team up most of game other team comes back and is up by 3 in final minute and is killing the clock by stalling. Foul happens with 4 seconds left as player is running near goal. A free is awarded. Does player simply hold ball/pass to teammate once whistle blows or attempts a shot to increase lead to 4 as final horn sounds? And if you were coach, what would you tell that player to do? |
| Reasonable coach tells player to pass ball out and then get in handshake line. |
| Take the shot if it looks good. It doesn't matter if it is 4 seconds or 4 minutes left to play. |
| Says Visi parent..... |
|
I don't have a daughter at Visi. I thought 6:56 was referring to the Stone Ridge versus Holton game since the immediately preceding post (20:20) referenced Holton winning by 3. Either way my comment stands that you take the shot if it looks good, and it doesn't matter at all how much or little time is on the clock.
It was a game and now it is over. Let it go. |

Spring Fling is on at Saints today. Interesting mix of teams from all over. From ISL there is Saints, Visi, Stone Ridge, and Episcopal. Locally also repped is Holy Cross, St Johns, OLGC, and one public school, Woodson. Collegiate from Richmond, Milton from GA, Loyola Academy from IL, and the England U19 are all there too. Usually there are more National teams. Must of been a tough year to get top teams to come.
Best games should be: Visi v Milton, SSSAS v OLGC, Visi v Loyola, and Holy Cross v Milton. |
Yes they are talking about the SR/Holton game. One team was not up most of the game, it was nip and tuck the whole time. Holton was up most of first half then SR was up 2 at the half. Second half Holton tied it up fast and then it was back and forth. Yes Holton held the ball at the end after going up by 2. Makes sense. And the last short was fair. Game still going on right? Refs weren’t having the best day and calls were strange - one SR player got called for dangerous shot then never got yellow card and got the ball back. One ref very whistle happy but then he wasn’t sure what to call once he stopped play. Good game either way. |
Sounds like a great game. I also was at a game recently where one ref was whistle happy but then never had a good call once play stopped. Wonder if it is the same ref? At one point even the other ref was getting annoyed. The calls were picky about fine points but the ref would completely ignore dangerous play and checks. Frustrating. |
