Intimate after date night

Any long married couples actually do it when they come home from date night? My wife is playful out in public but when we get home rolls over and goes to sleep. We don't do it much when it's not date night either (2x a month?).

Mid 40s, two kids, married 12 years. Trying to figure out if this is just "normal" or if its likely the beginning of the end of our marriage (she seems to think this is normal).

Almost always intimate after a date night. We are in our 50s and have been married for 20 years. Kids are now in high school

How often is your date night?
My wife also talks a good game, but often falls asleep before the magic happens.

Who has energy for that? There is a better chance for the next morning if the kids are at the grandparents, but even that is hit or miss.

Sounds like a typical marriage especially if the kids are still young. Too tired. When kids are a bit older and wife hits midlife and her hormones will go crazy, she will want sex every night.

Wife here. If we have a special evening, or I know DH is wanting it, I make a point to be available. I went through a horrible menopause, he was patient, and now that things are better for me, we are back to 2 times a week.

I wish. My DH seems more interested in mingling with the bartenders and other restaurant staff than focusing on me though. Last night I came home after date night and cried myself to sleep.

Sometimes we picked the wrong restaurant and ate way too much for my comfort. All I could do was sleep it off. Now we’re smarter about it so I’m not in a food coma when I get home.

Why don’t you ‘do it’ before date night??

Depends. Sometimes we do, sometimes we end up eating too much and by the time we get home, pay the sitter and are ready for bed, it hits me how full and/or tired I really am. If your kids are still young, she is probably permanently exhausted. Date night needs to be a nice not-too-heavy meal, not too much alcohol and not out too late (because those kids will still be up early).

Full stomach sex is low quality. Before or the next morning is a stronger climax.

It's normal if your wife is the type of woman who prefers to scarf restaurant food rather than your penis.

If she's playful out in public then hike up her dress out in public dude. Find a secluded spot.

Tell her it seems date nights consistently tire her out resulting in lack of sex. So from now on, you will be having sex BEFORE going out on dates.
