N95 mask

Sold out.

Are you guys really concerned enough about this to buy masks? I’m asking seriously. I haven’t been following this, but the death rate seems pretty low compared to other outbreaks.

I have some asthma and figure I can use them to clean up dusty areas, so why not?

Yep, it is kind of just in case. If you won't need them, hope and pray we won't, you can always use them
for clean up or painting or anything else. Or donate to the local hospital or another facillty like elder care or something?

Precisely. I just came back from Home Depot. Two boxes of 40 left on the shelf (the ones I got from Amazon have the valve). Bought one. There was a Chinese woman there taking photos of all the masks - probably shopping for some for family. That made me sad for her

My neighbor cancelled his trip but his wife and her parents are leaving Bejing tomorrow to come back - they plan to self-isolate at their beach home for at least two weeks. Low risk they are carrying it but I thought that was a very responsible thing for them to do. Of course the house sits on the water and is around 8000 square feet - not much of a hardship

If things start getting hairy here, I'm going to go up north to my own beach place - my son is at UMA and I'm anticipating a case or two there; we might see some colleges shut down for a bit as a precaution if it starts to spread. I'd go get him and go straight to the beach and isolate with him I guess. None of this should be necessary but I always have a plan B. Always.

Did you buy the N95s? Or another type?

Taking photo of masks. She should have bought them. They are sold out online and my dr office said they are on back order. Yikes!

If that thing can go from animals to humans, can it go from humans to animals, as in..
if a person gets it, can a home pet get it from them?

Really doubtful. Theres very few diseases dogs and cats can get from humans, which is why they have evolved as such great pets for us. There was a great book that came out about 15 years ago about the 1918 flu that explained this stuff. Pigs ate apparently the worst as they can get diseases from different species and then they mutate and grow together in the pigs. I think the book the hot zone might also have a good explanation.

This is interesting:

So in this case a cat for one, a cat can get it from a person but he would not reinfect other humans, at least in the case of some flu strains. If we consider Purina UK an expert on the infectious diseases that is ..

Of course this thing is not a flu but just saying... maybe it works the same way?

I’m concerned about my pet bat.

Hahaha thanks for the needed comic relief

He? Why the flu shot would have to do anything to do with this? It would protect you probably
about as much as buying a new car.

I think my snakebat is ok. He was acting weird, but I bled him a bit (great base for stew!) and all seems ok now.

So how the dentists will do the work now? They will probably use the nylon on the face like bank robbers?

I mean, if your that worried about coronavirus I sure hope you’re taking steps to prevent getting the flu (the actual virus going around).
