Does anyone know what Trump meant by "Shutdown money"?
I mean, does he think the Federal Government is saving money by being closed? |
He will try to spin anything to deflect ofuscate or blame someone else. He seems to have mastered this but little else. Buckle up |
Yes, that's what he thinks. He also thinks he can move money from one place to another just by telling his accountant to do it, like when he paid for personal items out of his fake foundation. |
| I think that is actually true. |
Unless it’s done through reconciliation. Then it needs 50 votes. Rs used their first reconciliation to fail to repeal Obamacare and their second on the #TaxScam. Obamacare repeal did not get 50 votes. The TaxScam passed with no Dem votes. So, there are two ways Trump could have gotten immigration reform without a single D vote: 1. If immigration reform was really that important, Rs could have passed it through one of their two reconciliation shots, instead of the Obamacare failure or tax cuts. Why didn’t they? 2. McConnell could have gone nuclear. Why didn’t he? Answer: because quite a few Rs are not on board with Trumps immigration policy. So, there aren’t even 50 R votes in the senate for what Trump wants. And now Trump has lost the ability to use reconciliation or go nuclear, because the Dem House will veto. Too bad. So sad. But be clear. We are here because Rs believed Obamacare repeal (failed) and Taxes were more important. It could have been done without Dem votes. |
Are you taking about “shutdown money”? Because shutdowns cost billions. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/federal-eye/wp/2013/10/18/how-much-did-the-shutdown-cost-the-economy/?utm_term=.0386a0678580 |
PP here. No, I mean that I believe I think Trump actually believes it, and that he can shuffle money from department to department like a shell game. I am aware it's looney tunes. I think Trump is not aware of that. |
Sorry— I misunderstood. Yeah. I think he does too. And apparently he has, to some extent, for things like house kids. Apparently, no one told him Congress has the power of the purse. |
|
Which is why he is willing to bluff his way into a financial crisis for the whole country on Christmas Eve. I think he really does believe he would be able to shuffle money around to prop up any failing sectors enough to pass cursory glance, at least while he remains in office. Why not? It's literally what he's always done.
(Recall that he had Sanders say they could always get the $5 billion for the all from departments, or something.) And then he walks away with a string of bankrupted casinos behind him. Bankrupted casinos? How is that even possible, if you aren't looting the profits as Peter to pay some other Paul? Jesus. |
He's only run one publically traded company in his life and it failed miserably. There's a reason for that. The one time he had to answer to a board and shareholders he couldn't handle it. |
| So, when Trump tweets of a 115 mile contract, is that referring to the distance of pages put together end to end, or what? |
On Twitter, someone said he got confused when he got his receipt from CVS, lol. |
| Yup just another Christmas with Trump as President. Government shutdown. Thousands forced to work without pay. Trump talking the economy down with his trade war. Alienating our allies. This is not MAGA. |
| COngress should pass a CR for the year, then over ride the veto. Enough of this. CR until we have a new President. |
