Jobs and Careers
+1. A mass firing is fine with me. I’ve got enough saved to last and am willing to move anywhere for any kind of job. I know I didn’t lose my job because of my performance. I lost it because Voight is an ass. |
Correct. Ours was signed by someone subject to the Hatch Act. |
+2 They can fire me as well. |
Excepted employee here. Getting fired sounds nice, though. |
+3 A RIF for me would mean a Discontinued Service Retirement; I have 27 years in. I did the math, and I would be fine. It might be time for a change of scenery, so I'd be open to selling my house and using the equity and savings to buy something for cash in a more affordable area. |
I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one with these dark thoughts. I’m just so over it. |
| I don't want to be fired but my agency is saying RIFs will hit by mid-October so it's probably a matter of days either way. I'm an emotional mess tonight. |

Remember the clowns/Anti Americans own the Senate, Presidency & House.
They own this. Republicans, instead of paying down the National Debt are adding Gold to the WH while hard working Americans all over this country will lose healthcare, jobs, food and all freedoms. All for christian Nationalism and a cheap orange mob con man. MR MEGA CHURCH. |
I don’t want to get fired and am very worried that all non-essential will get the boot. That would mean my agency would only have like half its staff but I think these ppl are capable of anything and everything. I feel sick with stress of not knowing how this will end. I don't want to see or talk to anyone when I have to go in for the 4hrs thing. |
Which agency is this? |
We purposely did not go on vacation this year (all of 2026) and stopped dining out as we are dual feds and don't know what's coming down the pike. Saved 6 months of living expenses in a bank account and another 6 months in a CD that will mature next spring. Bring it. |
| How do you see the next Senate vote for tomorrow going? |
|
The republicans control Congress. Democrats did not vote down anything. If the GOP wanted to fund the government, they could have changed the rules to pass a CR with a simple majority, like they did 11 days ago to approve 48 trump appointees at once.

I still don't have word if I'm working tomorrow (I've always worked through shut downs).
At this point, whatever. I've been prepping for anything for almost a year now, I can take it. |
The fact that they put a count down clock on the whitehouse.gov website signals to me that they want a shutdown. |
