| It’s not going to happen, but nothing will happen before 11:59 and the dems will pretend not to play ball. |
this. they control all 3 branches of gov. v embarassing if they cant keep it open. dems will pretend to not help. 11th hour it stays open. |
+1 |
it's gonna stay open for a CR but they probably won't address the debt ceiling which is supposed to hit sometime in the next month or so. also a CR will weirdly give agencies more money that DOGE cut out of 2025 allocated operating funds, can't have that long term. |
I was thinking that too that with a CR we will have a ton of extra money given all the departures that hit on 9/30 with DRP. |
| DOGE has slowed down, so another way to lop off Feds cheaply is to shutdown, not pay them, and wait for attrition. Everyone who is going to retire has retired; now you put on the pressure — and no severance because they quit |
| Not going to happen. Both sides are already negotiating. They’re talking about a cr through thanksgiving or the other option is through early next year. Hoping it’s the latter. TGiving sounds like terrible timing. The real fight will be over the full year bill and for some they’re still pretty far apart in certain areas. |
There are no other jobs, so we’re not going anywhere. |
| No there are people who added DRP to planned retirement who retire in December. |

You all live in the Matrix. In case you haven’t noticed, the whole thing is a bunch of fake BS, with both sides colluding to create fake drama. And the media of course loves it bc it boosts ratings.
It’s about as real as WWE wrestling. Fake “sides” and fake “fights.” |

It's not going to happen because Trump will order the executive branch to keep working, funding or no.
Yes, we are that far gone. |
I don’t think so if only because feds are allowed to work elsewhere during a shutdown. There’s no reason to quit until you find something else that’s permanent. |
That would be illegal (and yes, I know he doesn’t care, but I think that’s a slam dunk loser). |
Agreed. The RIFs and reorgs are already happening. So are the impoundments. The admin doesn’t need a shutdown to get what it wants. They’ll just claim everyone is excepted and order them back. Who’s gonna enforce the Antideficiency Act against them? GAO will write a strongly worded letter, and Vought will use it as more ammo in his campaign to have them abolished. The real test will be whether they start moving money around to pay ICE and other favored agencies. I’m sure they’ll claim Article II allows them to redistribute money from fee-funded agencies, etc. They may even order Treasury to just pay everything despite the shutdown. Sure, it’s explicitly unconstitutional, but if a court tries to stay the action, SCOTUS can just issue a wordless order from the emergency docket to allow it “temporarily.” The admin will conveniently order Treasury not to pay the courts, so the case will sit in limbo forever, and we’ll have a king. |
| So we could be ordered to work without pay? Wonderful. |
