What’s going on with the two bills?

Isn’t Jake Sherman the guy who was outed as being extremely friendly with Mark Meadows? And hasn’t Manchin been shown to be a damn liar already? Why do you trust the message or the messengers?

What's not to trust? Manchin has been clear since summer he didn't like this bill and has made as much known throughout the fall and winter. Then blew it up on XMas Eve like he was hinting at all along.

Or do you think there's a secret unicorn bill signed and going to a vote at 8PM tonight despite his objections?

They gave Manchin concession after concession. But in the end, it turned out Manchin was just playing games and wasting everyone's time.

That is adorable!

The Democrats can't proceed without Manchin's vote.

If he doesn't like the bill they have to change it until he likes it. They don't get to decide when they have given him enough concessions, he decides.

They should have known he had an effective veto and approached him appropriately, asking him very nicely what he would be willing to support.

Instead they decided to try to steamroll him...

I said months ago that the progressives were going to end up with egg on their face and look what happened...

The funny thing is they're led by a literal chair of the CPC that's been in Congress for three years and a Squad with the same 'history. Manchin (a former two-term Governor & three-term Senator) and Pelosi have had hangnails longer than Jayapal, AOC, Tlaib, etc have been in Congress and it shows.

Manchin and Sinema are going to tank the Voting Rights bill because they don't support any changes to the filibuster.

If their intentions are genuine, then Manchin and Sinema should be pressured into identifying and whipping Republicans who will vote for the Voting Rights bill.

They DID ask him. They DID make many changes. They DID give him many concessions. But Manchin still went ahead, grossly abused his position and is a complete a-hole.

He's a United States Senator and he didn't grossly abuse anything. The progressives wanted free everything with no means testing. He literally asked for a $2,300/yr income minimum and they said no. So now its NO on everything.

Again, slowly, Manchin gets what he wants, all of it.

You keep saying they gave him "many concessions," but that doesn't matter one bit. Manchin gets to decide when he likes the bill and if he doesn't like it then it is dead.

More of America agrees with Manchin than Biden. If you ran an election tomorrow, Manchin easily beats Biden. Biden's strong suit is that he is not Trump - he should stick with that.

"More of America believes in Bigfoot than UFOs"
See, I can make random shit up, too.

Reality check for you: Most of the Democrats hate Manchin right now, and if he were to switch parties tomorrow and become a Republican, the Republicans don't like him either, and would not hesitate to try and primary him in a heartbeat.

Manchin took $1.5 million from Republican donors in the lead-up to this. It's clear that the only thing he's decided on is nest-padding grift.

Let me see if I follow this logic. If Democratic Senators take money from donors it is "nest-padding grift," right?

You say that like its going to his bank account - its direct to his re-election campaign coffers so who cares?

Don't you understand, it was from -Republican- donors, that is how you know they are bad. This is bad money.

Except they gave it to a Democrat, which means they are by definition Democratic donors, which is apparently fine and virtuous.

Manchin's polls in W VA are great. Biden's are horrendous.
My bet is if Manchin were polled in all 50 states, he would be Biden in all but a handful.

Its comical at this point.

Democrats: Does he want a deal?

Manchin: I don't want a deal...

Democrats: But its possible his mind has changed!

Manchin: I. Am. Not. Interested.

Democrats: We have a deal working together over drinks!

Manchin: I haven't talked to those fools in weeks. No deal.

Democrats: But...

Manchin says he has tried to be as clear as possible about where he is, but fellow Senate Democratic colleagues feel confused about whether the West Virginia senator can be counted on to support some version of Biden’s sweeping agenda.
