| Bullis and Prep will pummel SSSA. Prep and Bullis then everybody else, at least this year. |
| Bullis crushes STA 18-4. |
Except the Saints do not have a dominant FOGO this year. Based on what I watched, if Landon coaches hadn't benched their starting goalie (apparently he got an un-sportsmanlike penalty), I strongly believe the Saints do not crawl back into the game yesterday. 80% of the Saints goals came against Landon's back-up goalie. Regardless of what I think, major kudos to the Saints players and coaching staff. You receive a beatdown on Friday at Landon and less than 24 hours later, the Saints coaches clearly made some adjustments defensively to hold the Landon offense to 9 goals (after letting up 19 the day before) and shock the Bears. Based on the limited results thus far in the IAC, I'd rank the teams in this order. 1. GP - they have the most depth in the league by a mile and should be able to wear teams down. How much will the Lil Hoyas improve between now and late May? 2. Bullis - they have the most individual talent but can they play as a team.... depth will be an issue in May but Bulldogs always improve over the course of a season under Bellistri 3. Landon - they have the talent to run with anyone but coaching is an issue as this is one of the more athletic Landon teams in a while. Their FOGO will keep them in games 4. Saints - the Saints are the best coached team in the IAC and it showed this weekend. Very good offense but depth will be an issue as it warms up in May Great to see we are getting a season in this Spring and most importantly the seniors get a chance to compete one last time for their HS before they head off to college in the Fall. |
Despite an early season loss to Bullis, GP is the clear favorite to win the IAC this Spring. Bullis, Landon and St Stephens are probably closer than most think with GP ahead of the back. Of course there will be some upsets between now and May. |

Though there will be no final word until the Tournament... We will learn a lot after Thursday and Saturday. Prep vs Landon. Who will win the first game. Who will make adjustments, who will win the second game? I predict a 1-1 split. I predict Landon and Bullis will not split; Landon will win both.
Both Landon and Prep have dominated play at the faceoff X so far. They will both have to adjust to playing more defense and less offense. Offensive efficiency and Clearing Efficiency will be key for both teams. I think both games will be one goal affairs that could go either way. These two games could be classics. The tournament will be a crapshoot. This is the most competitive the IAC has been in my memory. |
| Based on what’s been on display so far, hard to see Landon hanging with Prep or Bullis. I guess anything can happen with rivalries, and as Herm Edwards said “That’s why you play the game.” But Bullis and Prep are playing an entirely higher level of lacrosse. |

What has been on display so far? Bullis and Prep exchange wins or losses.
Bullis beats Prep in OT. Prep handles Bullis two days later. Landon handles Gonzaga in three quarters of a scrimmage. Landon beats St. Stephens by five goals and then loses by a goal. The good thing is we will know at the end of the week. As of now, having watched much of the Bullis Prep games on Youtube, I do not see either team being at "another level." I think Bullis will be very challenged in the possession battle against Landon. I am also not certain their defense matches up in size or physicality against the Landon offense. I think the Landon Prep game will be decided at the faceoff X. Has Prep won any games that weren't make it take it? Will they be able to defend more possessions? I think they match up better against Landon in the size Dept., but are they athletic enough? |
Are you serious? |
| What does Bullis look like when the stellar class of 2021 departs? |
| Landon is going to have a hard time with the Prep FOGO. He’s on a completely different level. |
| Prep is better at every single position on the field except maybe goalie which could be a push. Shouldn’t be close. |
The Landon - Prep games historically are always close, regardless who might come in as the heavy favorite. The only time I can remember in recent memory was the 2017 Landon team was beating GP 12 - 2 at half. I think GP wins both games this week. I could thee first game GP wins by 3 - 4 goals and the the 2nd game will be much closer. Its hard to beat a good team twice in a span of 72 hours and good coaching staffs will have to find ways to make adjustments. Prep's depth should be able to wear Landon down in both games --- I guess we will find out in a week. |

This is one of the deeper and stronger GP teams I have seen play in a very long time.
I don't see anyone in the league challenging this Spring. Sure they had their one loss to Bullis but that was a wake up call. |

It is fine to say Prep is better at every position than Landon, but that doesn't make it true. 10, Michigan, had a lot of points against Gonzaga and the Saints and I think is as good as any offensive player in the area. 13, Dartmouth, is also a very good player and 8 scored three or four goals against Gonzaga. Would any Prep player score that much against Gonzaga?
At the back end, Ohio State and Yale are both pretty damn good. At the faceoff X, there was a Gonzaga kid who went to UVA as a faceoff guy and didn't pan out. There was also a Landon kid who went to Virginia as a faceoff guy, and he didn't pan out. Let's see how they do against eachother over the course of two games. I suspect neither Prep or Landon will win above 60%. I think the faceoff battle on Thursday and Saturday will have a huge impact on the game, both teams will have to defend more possessions than they are used to defending. We will see on Thursday and Saturday where both teams stand, and then at the end of the season we will hopefully have a chance to see them play again to see who is really better. When do the Saints and Bullis play? |
It's really not fair to pin it on the back up goalie. He played well and made several nice saves. Landon did not score in the last 19 minutes of the game, even with winning all or almost all of the faceoffs. That was the difference. |
