I have watched numerous videos.

And I find it disgusting that the boy who stood there smirking is now lying that he was "praying" --- WHAT? In addition to being an entitled immature kid, he's also a mealy-mouthed liar. No one believes he was standing there praying. No one. Any psychologist, animal behavioralist, anthropologist of worth will tell you that his staring smirk was one of aggression, not peace and warmth.

I believed that by remaining motionless and calm, I was helping to diffuse the situation. I realized everyone had cameras and that perhaps a group of adults was trying to provoke a group of teenagers into a larger conflict. I said a silent prayer that the situation would not get out of hand.

See, I do not see a mob of 100 white MAGA kids. I see a bunch of high school boys standing on the steps, waiting for their chaperones to go to the bus. Some of them are wearing MAGA hats which I find deplorable, but you do see teens and adults wearing them when touring the capital.

I watched the hour video including the part where these boys were being yelled at and taunted by the Black Israelites for quite a while. The boys did respond back. I wouldn't characterize them as a mob.

I then saw the boys group together and do some school cheers. The high school I grew up with did cheers like those. It did not seem mob like although I will say ti was bad taste to do these cheers. Singing a hymn would have been a better choice. Singing the national anthem might have been seen as provocative and uber patriotic.

As a teacher I feel for any chaperones there because it would have been hard to know what to do with these kids, to keep the situation from escalating. Doing some school spirit cheers might have seemed like a good solution. However it didn't play well on camera, that's for sure.
