I get that to the other IAC schools Bullis's approach seems underhanded, unprincipled and even a little scummy. But this business about flaunting the rules is silly and off-base. What are the rules you are talking about? As far as I know, the IAC has only one participation rule and that's that a student should not compete more than four years in any sport. And there may even be waivers associated with that. The WCAC has a ton of rules. The IAC has almost none. But the WCAC also has a Commissioner an some enforcement mechanisms. And "recruiting" is such a nebulous term, who knows what it covers? The only thing that seems to be prohibited is the school can't make "First Contact". But once that requirement is satisfied, the school and coaching staff can do whatever they damn well please. It's not like at the college level where there are restrictions on how many contacts, what can be offered, etc, etc. And the Financial Aid at these schools is also so informally administered, the schools can do whatever they feel like doing. There are no rules, guidelines, etc. The IAC has always seen itself as a Gentlemen's League. It's a lot less work that way. But through the years almost all the schools have gone off the deep end in at least one sport. I can think of the Freddie Brown era at Episcopal, the Mike Hibbs era at Bullis and the Dwayne Bryant era at Prep in basketball. The school's take a longer view of things. It's the parents that get worked up. But as an IAC President once old me, "Parents come and then they go". |

It is rich when a Prep booster complains about unfair recruiting by Bullis.
Prep has traditionally been the leader in sketchy recruiting in the IAC, the reason why they keep getting kicked out of the league intermittently. Bullis will own you in the finals. |
| Landon and St Stephens are playing very well, I would not count on Bullis and Prep both making it to the championship. |
|
I've seen Landon a few times, including today. I'm amazed they took Prep and Bullis to OT. This Landon team is just not that good. They look like a JV team out there, spotted EHS a lead and had to come back. No way Bullis loses to Landon. They are on a mission to get back to the title game for a share of the title and payback against GP.
SSSA is a mystery. Good coach and talent. They might beat GP only if Prep is looking past them, which I doubt. They are eager to get back to championship status. What happened to STA? |
|
You know all the bad behavior you see at Mater Dei or Prep games? Or CYO basketball?
No shock that Prep parents are posting what they are posting here. Horrible. |
Did they trash more stands? |
| what happened at Gonzaga? |
I hope you aren't the same Bullis father who routinely shows up to Landon games. |
How many CYO games do you think this poster has been to? I'm guessing none. |
|
Bullis people please stop trying to hype up your institution.
The school has become even more of a joke under your current administration. How the Washinton Post hasn't picked up the story about the two football players who were recently expelled for sexual harassment and borderline sexual assault is beyond me. |
| Well if it is true at least the school took action. |
. Destruction of property |
Not a single lax player was involved in that egregious incident. It was the CREW team. |
| I think the poster was implying Gonzaga's ownage of the IAC this season... |
|
I don’t think Gonzaga would beat GP or Bullis the 2nd time around.
Gonzaga struggled to beat both O’Connell and St Johns in the past ten days, I’m really not convinced the Purple Eagles have improved much this season. Beating a team in March is a heck of a lot easier than beating a team in May. |
