You're in denial. It's probably because the NJ posters are also challenging you, including people saying how those clubs who will "try" to align by grade really aren't. |
Wow, what are you talking about? |
I like it. You basically get GY but without regrades. |
There's a new thread over on Talking Soccer NJ ... Aug guy/or someone with strikingly similar views is getting similar pushback there. At one point, he/she even references our lengthy thread here and how there's a whole grand cabal trying to convince Aug parents that playing on age is OK. |
Yea, grouping Aug birthdays on their grade in school team solves 99% of the issues with GY. Unfortunately some of the July cutoff districts might have a couple that cant play with their grade in school. But that would effect like .000001% of the players out there. Also not having regrades makes things better for paying customers ie parents because clubs cant roster (older) ringers on your team for wins taking your kids minutes. |
It's all fine if people want to do that and are happy with the team they get on. Lots of other people are willing to play on age, regardless of grade, if they can make an A team. And that's the point that 95% of posters agree -- that people can and should do what's best for them and their kid rather than trying to force things in any direction. |
Except it doesn't, because parents don't always adhere to the cutoffs and there's a ton of summer birthdays who frankly no matter what are the new trapped players. There also are big issues with forcing kids to play up who are 13+ month younger than the oldest in the group, so in the end, you have teams with 2 grades anyway. |
I just looked at New Jersey TS and what you're describing is not true. In fact there appears to be several people saying your posts are ridiculous. Which makes sense considering cutoff dates are late Sept and even into Nov in the NE. Meaning the amount of "August" players they have to deal with would be 2x or even 3x more than around here. It would be impossible to try and manage them all one by one you'd have to relay a single statement that everyone would abide by. |
And they tend to be the oldest in an age group because kids get better stronger faster as they age. If you need the basic stuff explained to you are aren't going to be able to keep up. |
You said untrue and then proceeded to list off exceptions. There's only on perfect grade year system and it would ignore ages and there's one perfect age system and it ignores grades. US Soccer picked ages and choose to ignore grades. |
Lol. I'm not posting there. I'm just lurking, I guess. |
Won't work because clubs can't enforce grades without documents which don't exist and they don't want to handicap themselves against other teams by having younger players. |
Nobody cares about the regrades. They can play up in club or go to a private school and pretend to be a grade down. |
Funny, the grand cabal is a one man band trying to make his Sept girl the oldest in the age group for quite sometime. It is surprising that he hasn't found anyone to agree with him yet. Maybe he will in a few years or so. |
You dont need to enforce anything. Clubs dont want 9th grade players on 8th grade teams because they'll be gone for have the season playing High School soccer. Parents want Aug birthdays playing on the correct grade in school team for college recruiting purposes. The "problem" solves itself when Aug birthdays play on their correct grade in school team. |
