We have october and November kids on my sons team who will be in the higher grade than the age bracket.... Tuff spot as they wont make the new fist team with their grade. Seems like an unfair burden.
Why will they be with the higher grade? Is the school cut off date that late, or are they pretty advanced in school?
As you like to say, it's called reality. There is no perfect system with one grade unless you make it full GY.
Completely untrue... SY with Aug birthdays playing up with their grade is almost like GY. The only players that arent allowed to roster are the very few school districts that start in July and the kids parents hold back in school so they're the biggest on sports teams. These kids cant play on the correct grade in school team. Everyone else can.
I like it. You basically get GY but without regrades.
Yea, grouping Aug birthdays on their grade in school team solves 99% of the issues with GY. Unfortunately some of the July cutoff districts might have a couple that cant play with their grade in school. But that would effect like .000001% of the players out there. Also not having regrades makes things better for paying customers ie parents because clubs cant roster (older) ringers on your team for wins taking your kids minutes.
Except it doesn't, because parents don't always adhere to the cutoffs and there's a ton of summer birthdays who frankly no matter what are the new trapped players. There also are big issues with forcing kids to play up who are 13+ month younger than the oldest in the group, so in the end, you have teams with 2 grades anyway.
