I don't recall Trump saying anything about needing Israel to help with our wall.
Why isn't he following through on the oft-repeated campaign promise that Mexico would pay for this wall? Did he lie? |
Well Trump certainly needs help, and since neither Mexico or Congress will step up to the plate, that leaves Israel and Russia. But if we let Russia pay for the wall, the Democrats will howl that it's all part of corrupt plot to let Russia take over Texas. |
Walls built to keep people out can eventually be used to keep people in. |
But isn't Trump a great negotiator? Isn't that what he campaigned on? The Art of the Deal and all that? Why isn't he bringing everyone to the table? |
|
Yeah, wasn't Trump supposed to come in and show everyone how negotiation is done?
What happened to that? |
This shutdown is a waste of money is so many ways.
|
|
Trump spent just 6% of the "wall allocation" from the last budget, thus demonstrating that the government, Trump specifically, isn't really interested in this issue.
|
|
THE GAO language from both the last and current budget cycle prohibit a wall. That is why Trump has turned to a steel fence.
Mitch and Paul certainly knew this and are yet letting the federal workforce twist in the wind to placate Trump. What assholes. |
| Why has Trump chosen this particular hill to die on? |
To distract from the outright thievery that is taking place in our government. He gets "the base" riled up, gets FOX pontificating on stuff while he and Jared are literally selling state secrets and selling out our foreign policy for personal gain. |

It is clear, from the posters here and from the statements from the Democrats, that they really have no reasonable argument against a wall. It is all about #resistance and ensuring that Trump is unable to fulfill a promise he made to the American people...
Dems: "Walls don't work." <They are shown evidence of how successful the wall has been not only in our country, but also other countries> Dems: "We need other solutions - technology and people." <They are shown evidence of where Trump has stated he would include other solutions> Dems: "You can't place a wall along the entire border." <They are shown evidence of where Trump has stated that there will be places where a wall won't be built> Dems: "It's too much money." <"It is less than 1/2 of 1% of the federal budget"> Dems: "You haven't spent all the money already allocated." <"Neither have many of the agencies allocated money. If that is your criteria for spending, we can talk about some of the social programs you want to fund.> Dems: "Why have you chosen this hill to die on?" Nice try, folks. Your strategy is so damned transparent. |
Please answer why Mexico isn't paying for the wall, as Trump promised and bragged about throughout his campaign. Democrats simply cannot understand why the great negotiator wouldn't keep his word. Would you be so kind as to enlighten us? |
| So why did you need Dems to put this through? Wouldn't the Republican support have been enough, if the GOP came to agreement and voted en bloc? |
Walls don't work. Ask Reagan. Look at the stats. And if you campaign on building a wall that Mexico is going to pay for, then follow through on that promise. I don't think, if Trump had run on a platform of "We are going to spend $30B on a Wall" that conservatives would have supported that. And ultimately, Trump had control of the House, Senate and White House for the past 2 years and didn't do diddly squat on his wall. In another week, he will have lost his chance. Why didn't the GOP support him when he had the chance? Why didn't he take the $25B when the democrats offered it? |
+1 And McConnell could have used the nuclear option if they really, really, really wanted. Trump is a laughingstock and average hardworking Americans pay the price. |
