Not in the United States of America. Asians are like 6% of the population so that doesn’t add up. My daughter has 26 Asian students in a class of 31 but the whole state of Virginia is like 7%. SMH |
Apparently, some groups value these programs more than others, so one, they apply, and two, ensure they meet the admission criteria. Other groups, as a whole, have different priorities. For example, I know a family that spends thousands on travel soccer. Their kid will likely never play professional soccer, but they are really impressive at it because of their hard work and years of coaching. I even suspect some may not even be aware that academic opportunities like TJ exist or of their value. |
FCPS is about 20% Asian students. |
Not the point. Asians are not a monolith. It is a false construct. |
It is still a diverse group is the point. |
Then it's crazy to think there's discrimination when TJ is like 70% Asian. |
TJ would be 80-85% Asian without discrimination against Asian applicants. |
Or even 100% since they're far more deserving after years of outside enrichment to ensure they have the perfect stats for admission! |
Especially the outside enrichment that provides the test answers! |
Especially since selection is a race-blind process. |
lol |
Many would prefer to believe in wacky conspiracies even if there's no evidence to support this |
My favorite conspiracy theory - Asian kids bought the answers from Curie. |
They didn’t buy the answers. They bought access to materials from a secured exam. That’s not up for debate among serious people who know what is going on in Northern Virginia. |
I don't know about the Asian kids but everyone knows that Curie had the answers to many of the questions. Over 30% of the TJ entering class went to Curie that year. The cheating was so widespread the school board had to change the admission criteria.==================== |
