6th grade teacher here. I have not used ST Math since 2020-2021 school year. It is not a good program. The kids hated it, so I stopped using it. No one has batted an eye.

I wish because it is is used in our 6th grade classroom. we tell our son that it is helping to solidify foundational work and he needs to do it but my god does it suck.

+1. At the beginning of the year my 6th grader's math teacher was sending home useful worksheets that built skills. Then she switched to making the kids do ST Math for homework. The worksheets were 1000x better.

You need to complain directly to the School Board. It is likely that the district paid for a multi-year contract for this. You need to also complain to the principal, and ask the PTA to have someone from the math instructional services department at Gatehouse come to discuss this with the PTA at a meeting.

Knowing Gatehouse if they did this it would be to lecture the PTA on why ST Math is great and we are stupid, not to listen to us on what we as parents actually see and know.

Because does Gatehouse actually ever listen unless there's bad press/media about them? And even then the response is to force schools to generate positive Instagram/Facebook posts...

Let’s go backwards with the textbooks/workbooks. While ST Math might seem clunky, it does conceptually teach math concepts that helps with modeling math and not just memorizing. Just a different way to approach learning.
