Do you and DH / DW smoke or do edibles?

My wife smokes weed multiple times a day. I hate the smell it creates in the house, hate that she normalizes it to our teen, hate the taste of it on her breath, and hate what long term health issues it may be creating for her.

I told her 20 years ago that I didn't want to be married to a pot smoker before we were married. She willingly quit, or at least hid it well, for many years. But the pandemic has brought back the filthy habit with a vengeance.

I'm not sure i want to deal with it for the rest of my life. I guess my best option is to remember we all have our vices, I'm not perfect either.

But eventually the weight stopped coming off and someone suggested I knock off the booze, it’s been about a month and a half and I feel way better but still need something to alter my consciousness from time to time.
I take two hits of a little vape pen thing and I’m I’m laughing, horny and then sleepy; my partner does the same and bedtime has become a whole lot more fun. I’m so glad it’s legal

6 martinis??? Like, at one time, or spread out over 2 days -- still a lot for me (2 drinks and I have a hangover if I don't hydrate & advil-up at bed)

I’ve been a champion binge drinker since eighth grade, but you’re right, those martinis get spread out over a weekend, they used to start on Thursday then it went to Friday and Saturday. either way I feel much better not drinking and the Vape thing is working out great for all of us

I have complex/developmental PTSD, and I take edibles pretty much every evening. (Actually, I have recently started using a tincture and really enjoying this method.). It helps me turn down the volume, for lack of a better term, on my anxiety/anxious thoughts and allows me to relax. This is in addition to a regular exercise routine and meditation/prayer practice.

Alcohol creates a similar effect initially but leads to depression, over-emotionality for me. Another plus of cannabis is no hangover. Fun fact: the human body is equipped with an endocannabanoid system, suggesting that humans have had a relationship with cannabis for quite a long time.

I’m so glad that you have something that works for you, would you mind explaining the tinctures a little bit?
Weed also really helps me settle down but I have kids and can’t have the smell so I use a vape which has its own drawbacks, a tincture sounds interesting.

Me too, PTSD from an abusive marriage and I use edibles or tinctures daily. I live in CO and have my med card. Alcohol is lousy for me given my history, but THC hits all my good buckets.

Here in VA it's recent legal. Several people I know stopped booze for edibles and a smoke. Less calories more mellow.

+1. I don’t partake in either but I much prefer to spend a low key evening with someone using marijuana vs alcohol

I just did some Delta 8 gummies last night. Perfect effects IMHO- just enough to relax but I don't feel goofy or giggly like when I'm high. Slept great too unlike a wine buzz- I often wake up in the middle of the night after drinking more than a glass of wine or beer.

Thanks! I also have two small kids, totally understand the need to decompress.

I actually just got the tincture a few weeks ago - apparently this was the preferred method of ingestion in the US before it was made illegal (that was in the marketing materials - who knows if it’s true). It’s just concentrated THC in a little dropper. The one I purchased shows milligrams on the dropper itself for dosing. If I take 25mg it takes the edge off - if I take 100 mg I can’t function.

I like the tincture more than the edibles because there’s an earlier onset than edibles (between 15 minutes and an hour as opposed to 1-2 hours with an edible) and also the high isn’t as “intense.” If you’re in a state that’s legal I’m sure dispensary staff can educate you further.

PP here and totally agree! Can’t wait until it’s a mainstream treatment. There are truly so many benefits.

I just get it from a friend I trust. We smoke maybe 4-6 times a year so we aren't acquiring large quantities.

I have a friend in DC who grows it. There's a place on H St that delivers, but you need a DC address to deliver it to...

PP here: I'm in DC and notwithstanding the fact that it's decriminalized, I wouldn't create a paper trail by using a delivery service.

Fellow DC resident. I thought it was legal to have for personal use but still illegal to sell. So how could there be a legit delivery service?

If you have kids, are you concerned about being impaired around them or if they need you? The WaPo had an article a few years ago by a Roman who did edibles fir the first time and she said she was completely out of it and her DH has to be in charge of kids.

I’m one of the PP‘s who was curious about the tincture.
I have been under the influence of my vape and had a kid need something and you can snap right out of it, no problem. Unlike having two glasses of wine or a few drinks marijuana for me seems to be really mood dependent; if I need to be serious I concentrate and get something done I absolutely can but I cannot will an alcohol buzz away no matter how grave the situation.
I certainly appreciate your concern for our children but this really isn’t what you think it might be.
