OT, but why do people need this to feel intimate? Does it mean they’re not able to feel their feelings without it and why would that be?

It’s an enhancement that when used in moderation can be enjoyable. There are many enhancements in the world, I’m surprised this concept is difficult. Why do you you need beer or wine to feel social? You don’t NEED it, but it can enhance the experience.. Why do people need Botox or fillers to feel beautiful? You don’t need them, but they can surely enhance ones aesthetics.

Yeah, none of those things are enhancements to me. If I’m feeling social then a drink doesn’t make it better. A beautiful woman is much more beautiful without the Botox and fillers.

It sounds to me like anxiety and just finding a way to escape from it momentarily. Nothing wrong with escapism but that’s usually not how you get to feeling things more.

Do you think you're helpful?

A lot of people here are saying they need it to be intimate. If my spouse only wanted me when drunk or stoned I’d not be happy about that. I prefer raw and natural passion.

So here's one who thinks she is better. She is wrong.

Not better. Just curious. Sex is desire. Can’t feel your own desire, why not? What does pot or alcohol do?

Alcohol lets up inhibitions. I woudn't say that it is the best for partnered couples because overall it dulls senses. So with you on that mostly, but not arguing with a glass of wine.

An edible (I don't like to smoke it) is a gradual loosening up. I experience it as entirely positive. I take pretty weak doses, so I am present and in it. Never incapacitated.

I respect that, but if you think you are "better" than people who do, you're wrong.

Where did I ever say that? OP asked a question, and I answered.

I don't mean you, obvs. I don't know who you are. Many in this thread suggest that they are better than, and even call pot users "trash." IF you think you are better ... etc

If my wife just smoked it recreationally at 8am on a Friday right before driving our high schooler to school and right before starting her telework day, does that indicate she may have an unhealthy habit?

Anonymous wrote:No. I grew up in a very toxic household filled with drugs and abuse. My mom was addicted to weed, as many of my other family are. I have never some drugs and didn’t want a partner who did drugs. My husband I do drink red wine a couple of times a month, but we don’t so drugs. I wouldn’t be able to be with someone who needed to get high to deal with things.

Caffeine. Ibuprofen? What prescriptions are you taking?

Just wondering-

PP here. I don’t drink caffeine and I don’t take any prescriptions. I do take Advil very occasionally but that’s not the same thing to me.

Anonymous wrote:DH occasionally (1x/2mo?) does a gummy, usually if a friend has some to spare and we’re together. It would be more if we lived in a state where it was legal (Texas). We recently went to the PNW with friends and about 3-4ppl smoked every night. Frankly they said they felt fantastic — didn’t drink as much and slept very well.

I use alcohol but have never used weed, neither smoked nor taken edibles. I have nothing against it and hope to try it soon but I was a teetotaler in HS and then worked in government/government adjacent jobs where they tested people randomly.

I have started using CBD and I sleep so, so well when I take them.

Isn’t weed illegal in Texas?

Nah, but maybe you should tell me her plate number just in case so I can say hi. *cough*callthecops*cough*

You need a chemical “high” to get intimate? Sounds like you and your spouse got other issues going on.

I had no idea of what you guys were talking about and had to google many things. I thought edibles meant putting whipped cream on your partner!

Weed is natural, dose is mild, and it helps. I didn't say I NEEDED it. I have zero problems with using legal substances that enhance my life. I bet you use things to enhance your life too, like maybe doughnuts.
