Have you never picked up poop before? You turn a bag inside out, grab it, pull the bag around it, and tie it off. Wear gloves of you feel its necessary. If you want, wipe any residue with a clorox wipe, stuff it in the bag, and then throw it away (in *your* garbage, not a neighbor's can or a public, bagless can).

Is it pleasant? No. Should you have to do it? Again, no. Is it dangerous? Of course not. Don't be a ninny.

But if you prefer, a third option is to wait for the rain, and continue to let if fester
there while continually asking for a city employee to come deal with it.

I believe human faeces is meant to be taken to the waste treatment facility, not put in the garbage for sanitation workers to deal with during pick up and sorting. But it's interesting that you want residents to walk with Clorox, gloves and adequate water blocks from their house to clean poop at bus stops and discard it inappropriately. Or would you like us to then drive it down to the Anacostia treatment facility? Perhaps you should brush up on the fairly recent San Diego hepatitis outbreak . Do we really need another epidemic? Perhaps leave a bucket, some tp, trash bags to line the bucket, some hand sanitizer, and instructions on how to properly defecate in the bucket, change the liner, and where to dispose of the bag (maybe a public trash can) after one does their business. Better than nothing.

It's really a false choice you're presenting, isn't it? Neither coups, nor public defecation should be tolerated. The workers who should be providing outreach to the unhoused so (among other things) they stop leaving their crap at the bus stop are not otherwise engaged averting coups.

I dont really know why we don't require more chores of juvenile offenders. I also think it would emphasize that their transgressions resulted in a debt to functional society that needs addressing. Assuming they're not violent, in which case I'm not interested in being at their mercy the next time they decide to hurt someone. And there usually is a next time.

It turns out that WMATA does in fact have one self cleaning toilet that does not work. It is located at the Huntington metro station (VA, not DC). Apparently WMATA has spent a boatload repairing the toilet and it has never functioned. I would call this a WMATA issue more than a technology issue. We should have these things all over DC.

OIG conducted an investigation into this matter and found evidence to substantiate that WMATA spent $416,789.32 based on known invoices between 2003 and 2017. Neither PLNT [Office of Plant Maintenance] nor PRMT [Office of Procurement and Materials] were able to provide OIG [Office of Inspector General] with all invoices, so the known total spent does not include the years of 2007, 2012, 2013 and 2014. Based on spending from the previous years, it is probable that WMATA spent over $500,000 on the self-cleaning toilet that has been out-of- service since the fall of 2017.
