How do you get poop cleared off of a park bench?

Anonymous
I don't care about the politics, who do I call to get human feces cleared off of a public park bench and bus stop near my house.

I got it I got it, it is not my sidewalk. It is my health risk though so I am wondering who to call.

I have called 311. They forward me to DC DGS whose recording never results in a poop cleanup.

So if I am walking the dog on Sunday morning and there is a fresh deposit (there always is), who is the DC agency who is charged with feces cleanup?

Again, I don't care about the politics. Homeless people have a right to be homeless if they want to be. They have a right to poop on the sidewalk in front of my house, I'd just like to know at the point of delivery on the floor of the bus stop or park bench, whose responsibility is the feces at that time and what is their phone number?

Go here:

https://311.dc.gov/citizen/home

And open a ticket for "DC Facilities Landscaping and Grounds Maintenance (DGS)"

You also might try "Bus/Rail Issues" for the bus stop.

But, note, that serving requests may take 60-40 days. So, rain might resolve the issue sooner.

Depending on your ward, call your council member. Not only does the public health hazard cleaned up but the DC government needs to be on this problem overall.

JSteele, as always, great input. But I was looking for more of a within 12 hours type of cleanup rather than two months. The whole health issues thing. I have no doubt that the 311 connection to DGS emargency line I have been using has put the benches in the 40 to 60 day queue.

But if I wanted it to happen a little faster...

Why not just do it yourself? Get some Clorox Clean-Up, a scrubbrush and some paper towels, and clean it yourself.

There’s no crime or prohibition against doing so.

Yeah, OP. Stop being such a diva and just start cleaning up everyone else’s feces. Check your privilege too. How dare you expect to live in a society free of weekly feces deposits.

+1. This is the kind of stuff that I’ve had success with going directly to my CM. Not feces but general quality of life stuff.

I'm not a big twitter user, but I'd be taking pics and tagging my council member and DC Parks.

Where do you live that you've had this success? Dupont, Shaw, Columbia Heights have all had major QOL issues and nothing is being done.

+1. Yep. You’re not a real urban mom if you complain about cleaning up homeless strangers’ feces.

I would open a ticket every single day or week since you say it’s ongoing.

Watch out for this. The woke twitter mafia loves to twist things like this into a "you are such a Karen or a Chad" issue. Just look at DCUM. Half the people here think this is your issue.

Karens matter, too.
