And a municipal public health department as well. That way “Governor” Bowser and “Mayor” Charles Allen can dole out twice the number of government jobs for “the community” — while getting less than half of the results! |
DP What she’s saying is that only fragile white republicans get upset about such trivial things. We just lived through a coup attempt that if successful would’ve meant certain death for nearly everyone here - and yet people are exorcized about a little poop. Get your priorities in order. We’re at war. |
It’s attitudes like this, not to mention “defund the police,” that will bring McConnell, McCarthy and maybe Trump himself (back) to power. At least NYC is somewhat sober and sane, with a presumptive new mayor who will be a good change from DiBlasio - and who believes in re-funding the police and thoughtful use of stop and frisk. |
I'm not sure what point you are making. You proposed that citizens take over the government job of properly and safely removing biohazard, and you were rebutted. Pardon the pun. |
Have you never picked up poop before? You turn a bag inside out, grab it, pull the bag around it, and tie it off. Wear gloves of you feel its necessary. If you want, wipe any residue with a clorox wipe, stuff it in the bag, and then throw it away (in *your* garbage, not a neighbor's can or a public, bagless can). Is it pleasant? No. Should you have to do it? Again, no. Is it dangerous? Of course not. Don't be a ninny. But if you prefer, a third option is to wait for the rain, and continue to let if fester there while continually asking for a city employee to come deal with it. |
| The city needs to deal with the homeless population so that this does not need to be a problem. |
This reminds one of the bad days when Marion Barry was mayor and school parents had to organize shovel brigades to clear way ice and snow from DCPS facilities. (Then Michelle Rhee came in and fired school maintenance who didn’t do the job.) This excrement situation is worse. |
Rebutted? Hardly. You need a dictionary. It's just not that dangerous. And "we pay taxes!!"" is the most pathetic sort of complaint there is. Yes, in a perfect world, this wouldn't be an issue. But that's not where we live. So either roll up your sleeves, pull on those gloves, and get scrubbing, or don't, and leave it there. But you're just not going to have a city employee at your beck and call to clean up for you, Karen. |
I’d take a Mayor Karen over Mayor Muriel any day. We want a competent mayor who sweats the details and cares about public health and quality of life issues. Why anyone thinks that NYC in the 70s is some acceptable municipal model is completely baffling. |
Sweats the details?! On not one spreadsheet in the entire city government is poo patrol a category or an item. As others have said, roll up your sleeves if you care so much about “quality of life”. Only you folks can take an extremely minor, nonexistent trivial matter and make it the issue of the month. |
| We love the idea of taking a photo and then tagging Bowser and Cheh on Twitter. That may get the attention of their shills. |
When Washingtonians resign themselves to the levels of public sanitation and local services that one ensures in a Third World city, then DC will have reached a new low, worse than the Barry era. |
I believe human faeces is meant to be taken to the waste treatment facility, not put in the garbage for sanitation workers to deal with during pick up and sorting. But it's interesting that you want residents to walk with Clorox, gloves and adequate water blocks from their house to clean poop at bus stops and discard it inappropriately. Or would you like us to then drive it down to the Anacostia treatment facility? Perhaps you should brush up on the fairly recent San Diego hepatitis outbreak . Do we really need another epidemic? Because your advice of amateur citizen poop patrols will surely aid and abet one "San Diego hepatitis A outbreak ends after 2 years" https://apnews.com/article/cc40b8c476ef469ebdc2228772176b03 |
The idea that you are a Karen for not wanting to clean up another person’s feces from a park bench is a new level for progressives. Some city employees are paid to do things exactly like this. I know it makes you feel superior to say urban living, just deal with it, but no one should have to deal with another person’s excrement on park benches as part of urban living. |

20 dead, 600 sickened in SD... But maybe you have someone lined up to donate you or your child a liver? Lucky you!
"The recent hepatitis A virus (HAV) outbreak in San Diego was driven by homelessness, associated sanitation conditions, and illicit drug use. As with an outbreak in Michigan, fueled by similar factors, morbidity and mortality were higher than what has been observed with post-vaccine era foodborne HAV outbreaks' |
