"Alex was changing a tire when a car passed him. The car turned around and the motorist shot him in the head, according to Griffin. Alex is being airlifted to Charleston."

Griffin is the dad's lawyer? How did he hear all this? Would the dad be able to say all of this with a bullet in the head?

Shooting victims have been known to be talking and speaking before surgery. I’d guess that he could communicate in a limited fashion.

Supposedly, he’s up and able To talk in the hospital. Videos and photos from the scene show a Mercedes SUV with a flat tire but no tire jack, tools, or blood. Some of the FB group members are wondering if this was an attempt at suicide. There’s no mention of a car being driven away (although the area is very remote, so…) or warning to nearby residents to lock doors or anything. No mention of a suspect. Bizarre!

Can you link? Where are the photos of the car?

$50 says the dad murdered his wife and son and this being shot in the head thing is some sort of suicide attempt or diversion.

Okay I see the video here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/MurdaughFamilyMurders/comments/pi0ydi/video_of_alex_murdaughs_crime_scene/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

but you can definitely see the flat tire and it seems like maybe he might not have gotten to the tools? Or maybe the tagged and photographed them and then bagged them.

To kill his own child? It's too much even for this clearly deranged family.

Is it? Maybe mom was the actual target (threatening divorce or whatever) and the kid just happened to be there.

Well dad’s been shot now too so it wasn’t him.

Wow. Rich people change tires on the side of the road? Where was OnStar or AAA? Interesting.

The father was driving a Mercedes GLS with tinted windows on a overrun country road with rundown houses that sell for $48,000.

His car is worth $132,000 MSRP. I bet he’s the only one in the area with one. Was followed and taken out.

In that part of the rural south? He might not have even had cell service on certain roads and it would have take triple AAA 40 minutes to get to him.

NP. I'm from SC and know a ton of people like this family. This kid thought he was untouchable. I'm not saying he deserved to be killed, but I am saying that justice wasn't coming his way through any legal means.

There are plenty of families like that in the Northern states too.

Exactly! This is not just a Southern issue.

DMV folks love to turn up their noses at the South.

I'm an SC native and most of the population there has had no access to anything resembling a fair justice system (including fair banking, property rights, etc) for most of its history, and many would make credible arguments that they still don't. It's part of America but totally out of compliance with the Constitution for much more time than not. Unfairness and oppression are its defining characteristic. Notions of southern "grace" or "honor" are the kabuki on top of systemic, state-sponsored violent terror. Driving to the beach through that part of the country gives me the heebeejeebees, and I'm white.

NC native and same. But truly I think the people who fall all over themselves to come to the South’s defense against the meanie yankee liberals are all actually okay with that because they are (or think they are) the beneficiaries of the situation and deep down they don’t see anything wrong with it.

I’m a black immigrant so I have nothing to benefit from the South. I just think it’s hypocritical to pretend that it is only racist there. When racism is prevalent in the North to the same extent. It just shows up in different ways.

The one thing about being rich in a poor area of the U.S. I’ve always appreciated - you’re left alone.

You don’t have beggars outside your door. You don’t need armed guards or elaborate security. Your house isn’t a fortress like it would be if you lived in Brazil. Your kids can go to the local pre-school.

As long as you stay in the good nature of the community it’s fine. But heaven help you if you get on the wrong side.
