Attention all waitlisted folks: Once you get past the deadline for sending in the contract and deposit the question to ask is the school is whether or not your child's class is overenrolled. If it is, then chances are there will be no waitlist movement, because several students would have to withdraw before they started admitting waitlisted applicants.

Has anyone gotten accepted with today's letter from Maret yet? I read through these posts quickly and seems like mostly waitlists. We are still waiting for our letter. Hate snail mail. Why can't they just email or call?

If you didn't hear from Maret today that is a good sign. You will probably get a call tomorrow with an acceptance. We were one of the unlucky one with a rejection (ie..w/l).

Does St. Patrick's reject anyone, or just waitlist everyone?

Maret's waitlist IS NOT a rejection. Kids have gotten off of the waitlist at Maret in Lower, Middle and Upper School. Maret does send rejection letters.

Rejected at both Sidwell and Maret today for K boy. No surprise because we are nobodies. Still waiting to hear from 3 more. I will claim I don't care and that my son will be totally fine at our local DCPS, and he will, but my chest has been tight with anxiety all day.

19:03 Maret waitlists nearly all applicants. They stroke the possibly genuinely waitlisted with handwritten notes on the letter itself or on a separate notecard.

My experience with admissions at St. Pats (we are a family there) is that they tend to overenroll the classes and there is little to no movement off of the waiting list. It has been an issue with current familes to some extent as the classes have been larger than anticipated (by one or two students) b/c all of the people who have been offered admission take the spot (so the class is essentially overenrolled.) They have been trying to limit the acceptances so that the younger classes do not end up with too many people enrolling.

If Maret waitlists everyone than why are some people saying they got rejected? Maybe rejected means waitlist with no handwritten note??

How do you know this? I've been seeing this a lot and wondering if it's an urban legend or there's some truth to those getting a handwritten note being on the "real" waitlist.

Holton accept - 4th grade - thrilled (and I was one of the people who was doubting earlier). Call came today!
