Another 7th grader (boy) waitlisted at Maret. No note, so I consider this a rejection. No connections. But siblings don't take 7th grade slots. So did anyone get in at Maret in middle school?

Waitlisted girl at Maret for 1st grade. No hand written note, just the standard : how they think she would make a wonderful contribution to the Maret community, etc. ...WHATEVER! Why can't they just reject people outright?

Maret does reject outright (see back a few posts) so please be aware of that!

Still waiting for Sidwell and GDS. Nothing in today's mail from either.

Sure they do. When their sibling also started in 7th, 9th, etc...

Having worked with admissions, there is a preference for letters to arrive on a weekend in order for parents to calm down. Letters that arrive on a Friday generally means offices are inundated with phone calls - many from unhappy or questioning parents. They like to have the weekend for families to gain perspective before calling.

I'm the PP with the waitlist for 1st grade and yes we did apply to GD as well. They are the only schools that expand at 1st grade. We are currently in our local public but we just aren't that happy. I guess we will be stuck there unless GD come through. I really liked Maret so much better. Does anyone know if the waitlist ever moves? I heard that nobody gets out right rejected so I'm not counting on it : (

Just curious... when people talk about being waitlisted with the "handwritten note" do they mean the one sentence in handwriting at the bottom of the page (but everything else on the page is typed)? We were waitlisted at Maret and I'm just wondering if we fall in the "handwritten" category. Ours says, "We hope that a place opens up for XXX at Maret."

Our letter said in typed format..."we hope that a place opens up for xxx at Maret. The committee thinks that she would make a wonderful contribution to our community", or something like that. We had nothing handwritten and I think others actually had something handwritten by the admission. Has anyone ever gotten off the WL at Maret?
