When do you think in-person 5 day a week school will return?

I think it's the most realistic timeline. And then put the effort into a good plan in place for next school year. There are going to be even bigger differences than usual in abilities, and there needs to be a plan in place that allows kids to be taught where they're at - that may be remediation for some, enrichment for some, grade level for some. It's going to be a mess and they need a strong plan to address this.

I am a naysayer but mostly because I have seen all of the FCPS board meetings. I know this comment is about LCPS but the unions dominate this area- not just FCPS. I really don't think FCPS will get back to the reputation they earned years ago. Any credits will be the parents with $ who go to kumon, pods etc. That drives test scores.

I mean, that’s nothing new. I’m a teacher, and research shows the top predictors of educational outcomes are the education level of the mother and household income.

The “haves” in fairfax will mostly do as well as always I’m guessing. I wonder how the others will fare.

Just got email from CDC as a teacher with ACPS and am getting the vaccine this week.

We're in Henrico and elementary is starting on January 22nd with 4 days in person and Wednesday virtual.

Won't we still have to social distance (6 ft) and wear masks in the fall because the kids won't be vaccinated? If social distancing is still required, FCPS will likely be hybrid (2 days in the building; 3 days at home (2 days synchronous and 1 day asynchronous).

I still think we will see some students in this spring for hybrid or concurrent. My grade level still has a couple of asynchronous days coming up during which we will need to prepare for the return of students. K-2 classrooms, the halls and cafeteria are already set. There is a large stockpile of masks, gloves and hand sanitizer. With the vaccination of staff around the corner and spring approaching I expect a “happy medium” will be found that brings the ES students back in.

You won’t. The draft for next year’s schedule includes Mondays as asynchronous/planning/meeting day.
