I can't speak for everyone but the military families I know do not like Trump at all and think he's a clown.

Most of these people are civilians. The actual military brass and troops aren't going to go along with any of Trump's nonsense.

The Defense Advisory Board thing doesn't have any authority - that's a money grab of some kind.

I can't imagine why the Trump Pentagon wouldn't want Biden officials on top of the military implications of the Russian hack.

If this is true (because the crazy headlines are flying fast and furious), it's time to start ignoring Acting and not confirmed Secretary whoever and plow on. File a whistleblower complaint and schedule your meetings.

We have legislation to provide for an orderly transition. It needs to be followed.

Laws are a human construct. If half the people simply don't recognize them, then we have chaos.

The "law and order" party is not living up to the traditions of our country, as established voluntarily by George Washington.

I lay this squarely at the feet of the republican party. Every single one of them.

I did not really understand this quote from Hanna Arendt until recent times:

"The ideal subject of totalitarian rule is not the convinced Nazi or the convinced Communist, but people for whom the distinction between fact and fiction (i.e., the reality of experience) and the distinction between true and false (i.e., the standards of thought) no longer exist"

I tend to be a pessimist my nature, but I think we are beyond repair. all calls for the NY and the Dem to "expose" Trump and the republicans to save the nation are useless to me. they assume that we have people who are willing to listen, look at facts and judge with their own mind. so many people are living on a different planet in a very different reality. they truly believe there are millions of votes created overnight, millions of dead people voting, voting machines that switched votes to Biden, even in places like Georgia where the power has been solidly in the hands of right wing GOP leaders. there is nothing you can offer these people to change their minds. same people who believed that Obama's economy was awful and then magically the economy became fantastic after January 2017. I have some of these people in my DH's extended family. they strongly believe that white Christians are persecuted in the US, that we can't celebrate Christmas anymore, that dems will bring a socialist regime (one of them is a farmer in the midwest who this year alone got $60,000 in subsidies from the government, his sister, who has an office job, got money from the government to keep her land unfarmed, many are on SS and so on), that the libs will take their guns away. my DH talks to then mentioning facts but they have their own "alternative facts" and there is nothing you can do to shake them

How did they become that way? I'm wondering what predisposed them to believe the lies of strangers over the word of a person they know. When so much of what some people are believing is so objectively ludicrous, how is it that so many fall for it all so dang hard?

Scenario:

Pentagon run by lackeys.
Government shutdown looming with corresponding financial crisis.
Hack has US not in sole control of nuke arsenal.
Biden team shut out of Pentagon.

What could go wrong?

the only reason why we don't have a physical terrorist attack right now is because big cities are under a soft lockdown. If it weren't, we'd see a terrorist attack.

Government shutdown gets all the career people out of the way.

Yep. Not good. Pass something, and crap all over republicans for the inadequacy of it.
