I'm sure you wouldn't show. I love the people who talk about pick up and then never can be bothered to take their kid. |
We don't just go, we organize pick up games for my child's team and friends. Some people show, some don't. But we're getting tired of having to do that 100 percent of the time, so we're going to start just limiting to 2 or so kids to do drills, unless someone else takes a turn. But, pretty sure you are just complaining and not doing the same. Oh well. |
Yeah, me too. Would be interested if nearby enough. |
| futsal is great for development of field players but doesn't do as much for goalkeepers. Honestly basketball or racquetball are better winter break option for goalkeepers. |
I disagree. It really depends on the quality of your opponents. If the opponents are really good, the goalie gets a huge workout with quick eyes/hands coordination. |
Why liit it to just your son's team and friends. Post it on DCUM? |

I was speaking to another parent during a training session and they didnt seem to comfortable for their child to play futsal indoors. They cited some concerns of indoor sports etc. All legitimate. My perspective was that it would be safe if hosted in a larger venue vs an elementary school gym however the counter argument was that ventilation in general would be the issue vs size of venue.
Just curious what other parents are doing? Assuming some of the risk? Are parents who are letting their child play enforcing facemasks while playing etc? Are some parents opting out of any indoor sports? Really just looking at this from a indoor sports perspective. Not trying to get into a covid debate. |
Some of the highest risk areas have been bars, restaurants and gyms. Futsal feels like a gym for us and not really worth the headaches. It’s warm enough around here most of the winter, so outside soccer makes more sense. The ROI seems petty low, especially if someone is exposed you’ll be sitting out 2 weeks. That’s a good chunk of the futsal season. |
No Puma Elite was Gus. He is Great Falls for Futsal this year. |
I keep hearing this Gus guys name for futsal...why is he so good and why does he move club to club each year?? |
He moves around cuz he’s always trying to make more money He played pro in Brazil. He’s a good technical coach but only really cares about his pocket book. So, don’t hire as a long term outdoor coach, as he’ll only show up half the time, but for a single futsal season or as a side trainer, sure, why not. Your kid will learn. |
I would not read anything into mobility. His teams are invariably competitive. |
| Any thoughts on other futsal programs? |
| My son played travel futsal for Alexandria last year and had a blast. I really hope that they run the program this year, and that they have the kids play outdoors. I've purchased my son thermal long underwear, although that may actually be too warm for when he is playing vs. on the bench. |
The futsal programs I know of are...Alexandria, DC Hyper, PG Young Boys may have one, First Touch Futsal, NPC used to have one but they may have stopped, Someone mentioned Puma Elite (I don't know anything about these guys. Do they enter tournamnets?), I think there is a group that trains at Manassas Soccerplex. I know there is usually a team called DMV FC that enters tournaments but I'm not sure if they are from a club or a futsal oriented group. That's all I can think of. |
