Sideline Karens

OMG, parents who talk s--t about other kids on the sidelines are the worst.

Your spouse deserved the scolding, and hopefully will behave better in the future. These are kids. None of 'em are going to be Olympic athletes. Tell your husband to dial down the vicarious bitchery, drink some coffee, and mellow the frack out.

Stop with the whole Karen nonsense.

Your spouse is an ass. Go, cheer on your kid, and keep your negative comments to yourself, or for the ride home.

OP, calling you hem sidelines Karens is pretty inappropriate. Sounds like you are both obnoxious.

My DD’s coaches used to hand out tootsie pops before the games. If were ever tempted to yell out, we were to insert the tootsie pop. Some parents needed more than one.

You've obviously never been to a kiddie soccer game. Parents have SCREAMED at the 14 YEAR OLD referees at Stoddert games. A league that doesn't do playoffs, so the games literally do not matter. Unbelievable. I can't imagine travel.

Just an attempt to blend this with another thread . Mom if your embarrassed by your husbands behavior and want to. Here is my open invitation to come sit , hangout , maybe Netflix and chill in my car with me next game or practice while your hubby screams on the sidelines.

Spouse gets a little enthusiastic on the sidelines. Never calls out any individual player by name (other than our kid), but may call out if the defense or offense is lacking. Nothing mean-spirited, mostly encouragement. Sure, there were also some private parent-to-parent conversations on the sideline that may have been more critical, but nothing loud enough for a player or even another parent in the stands to hear . . . unless they were eavesdropping.

Yesterday, after the tournament weekend, spouse gets a call from the OWNER of the club dressing him down for his sideline behavior. Another parent on the team got the same call. I would have thought adults could have a conversation with each other, or even with the coach, before involving the owner of the entire organization.

IS THIS NORMAL?

Well, I guess you got that gut check you wanted.

LOL, I don't think I've ever seen this much agreement in any thread in the history of the DCUM Soccer thread.

I think the real Karen just got a reality check! LOL.

By the way, little Johnny is not Messi.

What about her kids - aiden, jayden, brayden, and hayden?

what happens if kids on the other team were mean to them during a game?

Why are you calling your spouse, a man the name Karen ? Why are we using women's names for poor behavior on men? Stop it please. We no longer use only female names for hurricanes and we shouldnt use Karen instead of the term jerk or Ahole

Been attending travel soccer games for 18 years now. My experience is that the less skilled the player, the louder and more obnoxious the parent is. My observation of this has rarely been off.

I would agree to an extent however I’ve noticed the it happening more and more at the lesser skilled coaches games being just as much the factor.
