Yeah, I have to laugh at these people who are overly involved in kids’ sports, take it so seriously. I mean, really, unless you absolutely love watching children play sports, which I doubt, it’s kind of like watching kids play on a playground. There is no future in it. It’s good exercise and a good lesson in teamwork, but that’s it. Why parents get so overly involved and invested is beyond me. I have seen this play out time and time and time again, and not one of the kids played past college or even in college at all. Don’t stress, your kid is not the next Messi.

yep, look at any club in this area (not team, club)- the odds that any player currently in the club will ever make a living playing soccer are near zero.

I don't think that's true. There are a handful of players from this area who make it at some level. They don't make it big as in ending up playing in EPL or La Liga - but they get on a profesional roster somewhere and stick around for a handful of years. It's not a great living - but it's a fun ride for them while it lasts. So I would say there are 2-3 clubs in this area who will likely get at least one current team member on a professional roster somewhere. And several clubs where many kids will play in college.

Yes, I know several pros, and a lot of the best American players do come from the burbs. Most of their parents were coaches or former players though, and not the sort to behave like d*cks on the sidelines.

So do I. Some of the coaches in the area are former pros for a start. Three parents of kids on teams my DC has played on too.
