Here from Urban Baby

Center right person here. I've never had anything deleted that I know of. You'll be just fine.

I always read by Recent Topics. I am grateful Politics isn't included. Thanks, Jeff!

Dcum is the house of a friend whose parents make sure all the guests have snacks, drinks, approved entertainment, a clean bathroom, etc. Fun and safe.
urbanbaby is the house of a friend whose parents just don’t give a d-mn. We were very neglected, but made our own fun.

The mods were weird though. I got banned for insulting Trump. Very uneven moderation.

You don't have to login here, you don't have to create an account to post.

In that way it is better than UB where we had to logon to post.

There is someone on the UB front page now so worried about accidentally not posting as anon here and it is such a non-issue.

Hey fellow UBers- just commenting against to say I switched to here from UB a while back , when UB was kind of dead and/or filled with trolls, and I much prefer the format. On UB if there was an interesting post, but it slipped to page 2 without making MP, then it was ignored. Here, you just click recent topics and it’s sorted by topics with the most recent replies. Also able to post without logging in or making an account. Also, Jeff will investigate if a poster is a troll if you ask him to in website feedback. Wouldn’t it have been awesome to be able to be like “is this Lily again? Ugh” and have your answer hah.

NY rep and long time Dcum fan. I vaguely remember checking out Urban Baby when my teen was a baby. I always wished there was a NY version of Dcum. Didn't realize Urban Baby was it. I'd love this Metro NYC forum to blow up. I'd register if more would join me. DC people are awesome, intelligent and witty, but sometimes when I reference that I'm from NY ... crickets. They also scare the men away 👻

Let's request some topics to be added. Beauty and Fashion please! College and Universities would be amazing. I've spent most of my time on Dcum's College forum and it's UVA heavy. Would love to commiserate with NY parents of rising seniors.

Both of those exist already.

If you want more subforums created for NYC, I can do that as well. Consider this your forum rather than my forum and tell me how you want it to be operated.

I don’t mean to be rude but why would there need to be a separate beauty and fashion and colleges forum just for NYC? I mean, granted, fashion I could see — DC women could use tips, but by golly maybe just help elevate the current forum with the view from NYC!

I got banned from UB and I still have no idea why. I just made a different burner email so it didn’t matter, but I truly have no clue how I got banned. Never posted anything in political posts, was never a troll. Agree the mods were super random

Then you will be at home at YBM, everything goes. Speaking of the previous poster's accurate analogy YBM is a house where parents are not even present, it's the Lord of the Flies world. I think it compliments dcum nicely If you want to have a nice civilized even if a bit heated discussion but with no swearing and calling names or saying completely non-PC things then DCUM is great, lots of useful info too and it's searchable. If you want to vent about something or say things you would never say in person then YBM is your world. Or you may enjoy both, many do. YBM is fast moving chat room type of environment that makes quick conversations possible if you have limited time and don't want to wait long for responses, conversations are started, quickly ramp up if people are interested, and then die off and deleted from everyone's radar, those threads not interested to anyone just die a quick death right away and move into obscurity. DCUM is like URBANBABY in the way that you have to wait for the response and may log in later to check the advice or questions people posted. I like both, and I love how DCUM doesn't even need to ask for an email, but manages to stay civil.

I made a new email and it worked for several hours and then I was banned again. I didn't post anything that time that was questionable so I think they started IP banning. IDK. I know what you are describing happened to people, I think they were haphazard and sometimes clicked on the wrong accounts to ban.

Beauty and Fashion because on Dcum all the great recs on where to go for services or products are DC locales. I thank you guys for the Baby Elephant facial rec! Love it. I'm also the poster that loves being a personal shopper that offers links to exactly what an OP is looking for. A few have purchased one of my suggestions.

Colleges/Uni's because all roads lead to UVA, UM's and others in DC/VA. I absolutely understand because this forum is for you all. I'm on it daily and it's helped immensely. Ex: what schools ... ? And there are one or two responses that are amazing, but quickly derailed. I stay engaged until the gloves come off and everyone is arguing. I get it, you have great state schools. Ours suck. When I post, I usually mention we're in NY and then crickets. Would love a new perspective from NY.

Fun fact: DS is applying to a DC school. We were supposed to visit but covid. Their virtual tour was INCREDIBLE and the reason he's applying. So thanks to those who made me curious enough to research it and send link to DS. 😘

I'm so confused. I have been a loyal UB user for over 10 years, never migrated to any other forums. Don't even use social media. UB has basically been my only internet outlet. I post and reply there almost every day. I obviously don't lurk all day but I check in in the morning, when I take a five minute breather while working, before bed, sometimes in between if something is weighing on my mind that I want to post about or if there was an interesting topic I was following. Sometimes I would worry that I was spending too much time there and think I should quit but when the announcement came that it was closing, I realized it has been more of a positive than a negative. I looked at youbemom and that site looks absolutely insane. This site seems more accessible but I have no idea if I'm even posting right or if my now ridiculously long rant is even going to show up. But here goes.

Does anyone know what happened to the NYCitymoms.com site?
