This is my analogy of dcum vs urbanbaby. Dcum is the house of a friend whose parents make sure all the guests have snacks, drinks, approved entertainment, a clean bathroom, etc. Fun and safe. urbanbaby is the house of a friend whose parents just don’t give a d-mn. We were very neglected, but made our own fun.
The mods were weird though. I got banned for insulting Trump. Very uneven moderation.
Then you will be at home at YBM, everything goes. Speaking of the previous poster's accurate analogy YBM is a house where parents are not even present, it's the Lord of the Flies world. I think it compliments dcum nicely :) If you want to have a nice civilized even if a bit heated discussion but with no swearing and calling names or saying completely non-PC things then DCUM is great, lots of useful info too and it's searchable. If you want to vent about something or say things you would never say in person then YBM is your world. Or you may enjoy both, many do. YBM is fast moving chat room type of environment that makes quick conversations possible if you have limited time and don't want to wait long for responses, conversations are started, quickly ramp up if people are interested, and then die off and deleted from everyone's radar, those threads not interested to anyone just die a quick death right away and move into obscurity. DCUM is like URBANBABY in the way that you have to wait for the response and may log in later to check the advice or questions people posted. I like both, and I love how DCUM doesn't even need to ask for an email, but manages to stay civil.
