I’ll bet one of the major reasons is the Russian and political group trolls.

They flood boards with true spam and make the boards hard to moderate.

Then they have live human agents post real, rule-abiding posts and comments that are fine but boring and make the boards boring.

Maybe the reason this board has survived is that some of the trolls live in Washington and use this bored to find daycare for their own kids, and the trolls want to influence federal workers and try to use this board to spy on federal workers. So, Russia and domestic political groups might have an incentive to let this board live.

I haven’t tried it. Honestly, I think YBM community ran its course. No one was funny, every post got flamed, it died for a good reason.
