Sad it is closing. Been on both Urban Baby and dcurbanmom for years.

One of the beauties of UB was its variety. One post about schools the next about parenting the next about a crazy SIL the next about a work drama etc. to have to categorize will destroy the serendipity.

My strong preference would be for a dedicated forum for ex-UB moms to give us a new home and let us get oriented to the new space. Within a month or so if there is still cohesiveness with the UB crew (really hoping so) then we could see if it made sense to try to confirm better to the rest of the site.

But for now just getting used to the different interface is a huge obstacle for most of us. If we have to Hunt out a bunch of subject forums as well we won’t make it,

You need to go to the recent topics section. That brings up posts as they come, not by category. Recent topics can be accessed either at the bottom of the page or to the left under "search."

BUt “explicit sex “ nor “politics “ shows up in “recent topics”

UWSider and DC native here. DCUM is superior in every way but also less snarky, people are more risk averse in all aspects, and the beauty/fashion advice isn’t quite as good.
