Anyone else here from UrbanBaby? I can't believe it's getting shut down. |
I just came here to see if anyone had started a thread yet!!
I know, can’t believe it |
I used to frequent that when my first was young. I can't believe they didn't sell it instead of closing it down. |
Why are they closing? I used to visit there the odd time. |
Try youbemom.com. It was Urban Baby before Urban Baby went corporate. NYC focus. Be careful— them bitches be bitchy. |
It was sold like 10 years ago and destroyed by the company. The original Urban Baby lives on at youbemom.com |
UB'er, checking out DCurbanmom. So sad about UB. |
I came to check out DCURBANMOM - not sure if this will be a good substitute for UB, but I'm willing to try |
I'm here, hoping the urban baby crowd meets up here. I can't deal with going to youbemom. |
I've never come on here before but I'm panicked with UB shutting down. This feels so unfamiliar. Is this going to be ok? |
I've been here and YBM for a while, but UB was my first anonymous forum. I never created an UB account, just would check out the site for all the snippets of good advice. But I find lots of good advice and interesting into here in the topic specific subforums.
This NY subforum is a bit sleepy but I'm sure you all can make it more lively. Welcome! P.S. Please click on the ads to help out Jeff, who owns and runs the site. |
YBM is overrun with political trolls, and a.few.obsessives (e.g., Someone who keeps posting about Sally Hemmings and Thomas Jefferson). DCUM is well moderated and it's easy to follow posts without serious trolling. |
Hi, I just moved from UB, but miss the format. This is very different... anyway, hope to connect to some of the UB moms again. |
Hello and welcome to all of you from New York. My wife, Maria, and I own and operate this website. I'm sorry to hear about Urban Baby. Many years ago we had discussions with a venture capitalist who pitched us on combining with Urban Baby and a third parenting website to form one large site that would spread out to other cities. I declined because I felt that all three forums -- while successful in their own ways -- had very different cultures. I thought too much would be lost by combining them. So, that is to say that I recognize and agree that DCUM is not UB. This will be a different experience for you. But, don't be afraid to offer suggestions on how to improve things. I am more than willing to consider additions, modifications, or other changes to help make DCUM your new home.

Hi Jeff,
Thanks for welcoming us. I guess it may take some time to get used to this board, mostly the format, but it's great to have a place to go to again and hopefully connect with other moms/parents. |
