If you have a BMI of 18-20 (or lower) come in

You don't need to weigh and/or measure any of your food. What you need to learn to do is listen to your body. Eat slowly, and with intention. When you're almost full, stop eating. If you do this, I promise you'll never be overweight.

Breakfast: coffee with 1 T cream

Lunch: smoothie made with kale, coconut/almond milk, frozen fruits, banana, 2 T hemp seeds. Either leftovers, almonds, or whatever else I have. Today I had a slice of homemade focaccia with olives, almonds, and rosemary.

Dinner: Burmese Coconut-Chicken Noodle soup. Yesterday I had Costco rotisserie chicken with asparagus and rice.

Dessert: sometimes ice cream, cookie, or brownie. Usually a matcha latte.

This is super sad.

Yes, this is the diet of a bulimic. Notice almost everything is liquid?

Someone's jelly

PP here. I’m not bulimic. Never had an eating disorder. Today I had coffee with milk; ramen with egg, chicken, coconut milk, and veggies; smoothie made with kale, banana, frozen fruit, and almond milk; panini made of focaccia, pear, kale, red onion, Brie, and raspberry jam; brownie with ice cream. I ran 5 miles this morning (25 miles for the week).

Correct you HAVE an eating disorder. This is almost the exact diet they put my sister on when she was trying to recover from her eating disorder. The liquid intake was to combat her body dysmorphia. If she ate something solid she could literally see it on herself. It was really sad because she’s absolutely gorgeous.

Oh stop. This is a perfectly fine and healthy diet and seems balanced to me.

It's sad that pp doesn't recognize that this is a healthy diet. For a small frame person (even at that height), it's more than enough calories. The reason that first pp can eat this way is because the foods are high in protein and healthy fats. The quality of the food matter more than the quantity of the food.

113 lbs at around 5'-7" is clinically underweight.

BMI is just a guiding tool. It is not an accurate tool for many people.

I am 5'8". At 130 pounds, my BMI is in a healthy weight range. It is 19.8.

However, I looked extremely thin at 132 pounds. My ribs were protruding out.

BMI is way off for me.

It could be slightly off for PP. (she is very close to BMI's standard). She might have a very small frame and less than average muscle tone.

I'm also 5'8 and 130. The most I've weighed (non-pregnancy) was 140, and I was called big, thick, fat, you name it. I look best at 125. Very small framed.

Yesterday I had a soy milk latte for breakfast, a Chop't palm beach salad for lunch, and 2 slices of pizza for dinner. Somewhere in there I had 2 glasses of wine and a handful of peanuts.

Im also 5 ft 8 in but just over a 20 BMI with a weight around 137. I am curvy and have thin limbs and carry weight in my upper hips and lower stomach area. It’s nearly impossible for me to get below 135... during a stressful time at work all I was eating for months was a large salad a day with some occasional soup and bread and I was around 134.

Yesterday I ate: black tea, two pieces of toast with jam and full fat butter, one Dunkin’ Donuts iced coffee with cream and sugar, 6 donut holes, two homemade chicken tacos, and a large bubble tea.

Breakfast: one egg, one English muffin, 2 cups of coffee, piece of fruit (generally an apple but in the summer I prefer peaches and nectarines)

Lunch: Big salad with lots of veggies, light dressing, a few croutons (no bacon or cheese).

Snack: Bowl of fruit salad (pineapple, raspberry, strawberry, blackberry, and blueberries)

Tonight we're having shrimp scampi and a side of steamed broccoli. I'll eat the shrimp and broccoli without the pasta.

Sometimes if I'm still hungry and everyone else is having dessert I'll have a yogurt so my kids don't see me not partaking. I think that sends the wrong message, especially to girls.

Yes, never eating dessert and only eating yogurt instead is definitely on point the right message, for sure.

Why isn't yogurt dessert? Dessert is any sort of sweet food that people eat after the main meal.

Do any of you answering this workout? I’m seeing severe calorie restriction but not much exercise.

+1 I'm wondering the same thing. Sometimes I'd rather have yogurt than cake or cookies.

I mean, the PP with a BMI of 19 ate less than 1000 calories.

OK- 5'3", 135 lbs, bmi 124
today: cinnamon bun for breakfast- lots of cream cheese icing on top (this is very unusual for me- I typically eat oatmeal, yogurt, etc. but we got cinnamon buns at Farmers Mkt)

deli turkey meat, slice of cheese, potato chips and a big apple for lunch

a couple of triscuits this afternoon

big crab cake, small Cesar salad and 2 buffalo wings for dinner. Had a glass of white wine with my meal.
will have a bit of ice cream after posting this.

I'm posting this to show the difference between diets of low and higher bmi's.

PP, what is your BMI? I don’t think you meant 124. 24 and you’re not supposed to “come in”. It can’t be 12.

This thread is making me wonder about the value of BMI as a measure of skinniness or fatness (or whatever). What if you're thin/healthy weight, but have large breasts .... or if you're thin but are more fit and have more muscle mass than "skinny fat." Wouldn't those things push up your BMI, such that someone with a BMI of, say, 21 or 22, could actually look skinnier than someone with a lower BMI?

Those people won't "look skinnier" but they may look stronger or more fit.

But very fit or very strong people can be very lean. Different people have different builds. Body composition can vary widely among healthy people. And the ranges for healthy weight BMI are too restrictive. People who are slightly under or over weight can still be healthy and still look healthy.

Can’t argue with this advice. Not full, almost full.
