You don't need to weigh and/or measure any of your food. What you need to learn to do is listen to your body. Eat slowly, and with intention. When you're almost full, stop eating. If you do this, I promise you'll never be overweight. |
Oh stop. This is a perfectly fine and healthy diet and seems balanced to me. |
Im also 5 ft 8 in but just over a 20 BMI with a weight around 137. I am curvy and have thin limbs and carry weight in my upper hips and lower stomach area. It’s nearly impossible for me to get below 135... during a stressful time at work all I was eating for months was a large salad a day with some occasional soup and bread and I was around 134. Yesterday I ate: black tea, two pieces of toast with jam and full fat butter, one Dunkin’ Donuts iced coffee with cream and sugar, 6 donut holes, two homemade chicken tacos, and a large bubble tea. |
Why isn't yogurt dessert? Dessert is any sort of sweet food that people eat after the main meal. |
| Do any of you answering this workout? I’m seeing severe calorie restriction but not much exercise. |
+1 I'm wondering the same thing. Sometimes I'd rather have yogurt than cake or cookies. |
The OP asked about food. Start your own thread if you would like info on exercise. I don't see muh calorie restriction on this thread. |
I mean, the PP with a BMI of 19 ate less than 1000 calories. |

OK- 5'3", 135 lbs, bmi 124
today: cinnamon bun for breakfast- lots of cream cheese icing on top (this is very unusual for me- I typically eat oatmeal, yogurt, etc. but we got cinnamon buns at Farmers Mkt) deli turkey meat, slice of cheese, potato chips and a big apple for lunch a couple of triscuits this afternoon big crab cake, small Cesar salad and 2 buffalo wings for dinner. Had a glass of white wine with my meal. will have a bit of ice cream after posting this. I'm posting this to show the difference between diets of low and higher bmi's. |
No need to be so damn snotty. Go eat a snickers. |
PP, what is your BMI? I don’t think you meant 124. 24 and you’re not supposed to “come in”. It can’t be 12. |
| This thread is making me wonder about the value of BMI as a measure of skinniness or fatness (or whatever). What if you're thin/healthy weight, but have large breasts .... or if you're thin but are more fit and have more muscle mass than "skinny fat." Wouldn't those things push up your BMI, such that someone with a BMI of, say, 21 or 22, could actually look skinnier than someone with a lower BMI? |
Those people won't "look skinnier" but they may look stronger or more fit. But very fit or very strong people can be very lean. Different people have different builds. Body composition can vary widely among healthy people. And the ranges for healthy weight BMI are too restrictive. People who are slightly under or over weight can still be healthy and still look healthy. |
Can’t argue with this advice. Not full, almost full. |
Oops- BMI is 24
