The OP asked about food. Start your own thread if you would like info on exercise.

I don't see muh calorie restriction on this thread.

No need to be so damn snotty. Go eat a snickers.

You don't need to weigh and/or measure any of your food. What you need to learn to do is listen to your body. Eat slowly, and with intention. When you're almost full, stop eating. If you do this, I promise you'll never be overweight.

Can’t argue with this advice. Not full, almost full.

And eat real food. Don’t snack too much. Eat breakfast. Don’t drink soda.

I got down to BMI 15.4 doing intermittent fasting and eating 1400-1500 calories a day.

0/10 do not recommend.

5'4, small frame, 108 lbs, and bmi 18.5

I'm not hungry in the morning so I usually only have black coffee. I'm hungriest during the day so I usually have a big lunch +snack. I'm less hungry at night but I want to eat with my family so I have a light(ish) dinner.

This is what I ate yesterday.

Lunch (12 pm)- fried rice with dried tofu, vegetables, eggs, + small apple

.5 cup cooked white rice
2 cups frozen vegs (carrots, peas, corn)
1 cup dried tofu
3 eggs

Snack (4 pm) 1/4 cup of almonds

Dinner 7 pm

.5 cup cooked white rice
2? cups of chana masala (just tomatoes, chickpeas spices)
anjou pear

This is about 1300 calories.

Sometimes, I will have wine or beer with my meals.

Exercise is usually 60 min walk at 4 mph.

I am 49. (but honestly, I was just trolling, sorry!) I can't really eat 4000 calories and be 107 lbs!

Eat until you are *not hungry.* That is different from full or almost full.

That was the advice from her doc to my overweight mother in the 1970s. Still applies today.

Breakfast: coffee with 1 T cream

Lunch: smoothie made with kale, coconut/almond milk, frozen fruits, banana, 2 T hemp seeds. Either leftovers, almonds, or whatever else I have. Today I had a slice of homemade focaccia with olives, almonds, and rosemary.

Dinner: Burmese Coconut-Chicken Noodle soup. Yesterday I had Costco rotisserie chicken with asparagus and rice.

Dessert: sometimes ice cream, cookie, or brownie. Usually a matcha latte.

This is super sad.

It's sad that pp doesn't recognize that this is a healthy diet. For a small frame person (even at that height), it's more than enough calories. The reason that first pp can eat this way is because the foods are high in protein and healthy fats. The quality of the food matter more than the quantity of the food.

113 lbs at around 5'-7" is clinically underweight.

BMI is just a guiding tool. It is not an accurate tool for many people.

I am 5'8". At 130 pounds, my BMI is in a healthy weight range. It is 19.8.

However, I looked extremely thin at 132 pounds. My ribs were protruding out.

BMI is way off for me.

It could be slightly off for PP. (she is very close to BMI's standard). She might have a very small frame and less than average muscle tone.

I'm also 5'8 and 130. The most I've weighed (non-pregnancy) was 140, and I was called big, thick, fat, you name it. I look best at 125. Very small framed.

Yesterday I had a soy milk latte for breakfast, a Chop't palm beach salad for lunch, and 2 slices of pizza for dinner. Somewhere in there I had 2 glasses of wine and a handful of peanuts.

who called you fat at 140lbs? Hopefully you didn't let them get away with that.

You're that tiny, and you measure out half cups of rice and quarter cups of almonds for yourself?

I call BS on PP. 5'4" and walks 4 mph? Is she the Flash? I'm 5'6" and it's very very difficult to walk over 3.5 mph without breaking into a run.

DP. I walk easily 4. miles per hour on a treadmill. I can go as fast as 4.5. It is very paced walking. My normal pace on treadmill is 4.3 miles per hour. I will walk faster than people running next to me. But, in nature I do not walk 4 miles per hour.
So, it is very possible that a person taller than me can easily walk 4 miles per hour. At 4 miles per hour, I am not even close to running.
The critic pp is just lazy and can't understand that just because she can't do it, it is impossible.

That's because you still believe that exercising is the way to lose weight. It's not.
When you eat in moderation, exercise is just for fun and to keep your body moving.

Breakfast: one egg, one English muffin, 2 cups of coffee, piece of fruit (generally an apple but in the summer I prefer peaches and nectarines)

Lunch: Big salad with lots of veggies, light dressing, a few croutons (no bacon or cheese).

Snack: Bowl of fruit salad (pineapple, raspberry, strawberry, blackberry, and blueberries)

Tonight we're having shrimp scampi and a side of steamed broccoli. I'll eat the shrimp and broccoli without the pasta.

Sometimes if I'm still hungry and everyone else is having dessert I'll have a yogurt so my kids don't see me not partaking. I think that sends the wrong message, especially to girls.

This is like 800 calories ...

Well she ain't gonna be eating 3000 calories and have a BMI of 19.

This is what people don’t get. We all genetically have different levels of appetite-inducing hormones like leptin and ghrelin. Some people just don’t get as hungry as others. Hence they eat less. Hence they weigh less “without trying.” Simple.

(Btw this is one of the reasons weight loss surgery works. These appetite driving hormones are mostly produced in the stomach. Some of the WLS techniques remove part of your stomach, thus lowering the amount of hormones your body produces, thus leaving you less hungry in general.)

First pp here. 4 mph isn't fast at all. That's my normal walking pace. I can walk even faster (5 mph) than that without breaking into a run. I also grew up in NYC where walking everywhere is the norm so maybe that's it. 4 mph is a brisk pace but it isn't fast. I can hold a normal conversation while walking at that pace.

The most important aspect of eating in moderation is knowing how to portion your food. I like rice with my food but it's just filler and I prefer to spend my calories where it counts- I rather eat more vegetables, protein, or fruits. An afternoon snack should be snack size. After a while, it becomes intuitive. I know what 1/2 cup of cooked rice or 1/4 cup of nuts look like without using a measuring cup.

How am I "tiny" ? I'm statistically average for a woman of my height and frame size.
