Ride it out! Like a cowboy!! Yeeeeehawwww!!!!! |
BTW - here is the Taiwanese government's mask distribution portal. Citizens get masks based on an ID number; non-citizens have a name-based portal. https://www.nhi.gov.tw/english/Content_List.aspx?n=022B9D97EF66C076 |
(And masks are also distributed by the government at pharmacies and health centers -- 3 per adult per week, and no limit for kids. |
You entitled millenials make my eyes roll so hard They literally just sent you $1200 Buy a mask. |
Americans: how come you get free masks and we don’t?
The rest of the world: I’ll trade you for that $1200 check |
Ugh, pretty much all the other major industrialized countries are giving people more than $1200 |
Dude. There is NO REGULAR SUPPLY of masks, anywhere. Nobody is manufacturing them, or even ordering them from China and putting them into the US supply chain. "Buy a mask" is like "let them eat cake." In contrast, the government of Taiwan (you know, where they knocked down COVID without having to shut down their economy) is distributing multiple disposible surgical masks weekly to everyone who lives there. If you're a PP complaining about how Democrats just don't care about the economy and we have to reopen RIGHT NOW ... this just goes to show that you have zero plan other than yes, just letting everyone get COVID at once. Meanwhile, don't you dare complain about people who are pointing out how our government has completely failed compared to other governments. |
No kidding. And I wonder how many Americans would trade their $1200 check to live in Taiwan or South Korea? Heck, I might even trade it for Beijing right now. |
Have you seen what other countries are giving out to their citizens? It makes that $1200 look like pennies. From Newsweek: UK: 80% of workers' salaries Denmark: 75% of workers' salaries S Korea: 70% of workers' salaries Netherlands: 90% of workers' salaries Canada: $2k per month Australia: $1k per month US: One time $1200 check that may take months to arrive |
Exactly. And their support is being done in a much less disruptive way that allows for companies to keep employees on the payroll instead of firing them. And let's not even get started on our completely absurd small-business support loans, which were scooped up by greedy hedge funds. |
I'm honestly so pissed by the failure of the US government that I kind of want to go protest with the Tea Partiers in Michigan. I don't think it would be that hard to make common cause with them. They're responding to the reality that the US government does not appear to have any functioning plan other than "stay at home." |
I do a lot of lobbying work and have heard from a number of people that the region's leaders will soon agree on June 10 as target for reopening |
Thank you for the advice and support. |
Well except for the confederate flags and MAGA hats... |
Are they expecting people to ride metro with t-shirts wrapped around their heads? I know this might seem like a small thing, but to me it symbolizes the complete lack of planning or even an attempt to plan. |
