Everyone will need tryouts. Players are going to return very different.

If you want the politics to continue—than yes keep the same teams even when other players have progressed well beyond current players.

News flash: the politics will continue and have already begun. Top DA players have already been contacted. This isn’t a vacuum chamber. ECNL coaches know the DA kids, some from long before they started in DA.

But but but - DMV United! We're all in this together!

Yeah that lasted about a week

If Arlington boys teams are reluctant to join ECNL then that might be limiting for their girls to join ECNL since it is all in.

Metro United will be done either way.

Get ready for a new ex-DA league in some form or another that is not ECNL.

All those ECNL folks ought to be a bit fearful. Even if you don't like these teams or think the DA is filled with arrogant people, was a flawed concept, etc., there are some good players. I can think of DA goalkeepers, for instance, who absolutely could displace their ECNL counterparts at certain age groups.

If you are not a current ECNL starter the thought of ECNL not accepting DA clubs should terrify you.

yah, good luck with your virtual tryouts.

Good lord you are new here, aren’t you? There are many who don’t need tryouts.

Where’s the undeserved arrogance now?

you're from FCV aren't you?

There are many here who still don’t seem to get the grasp of their dreams being fulfilled.

If ECNL shuts out the DA clubs, you should expect your rosters to be seriously displaced. Sure, not every DA starter will find a starting spot in ECNL, but there will be lots of movement in that direction. There are lots of high quality DA starters who are well known in the area and highly coveted by ECNL coaches. This game is played all the time, even in good times for the DA.

The hangover from the ECNL fanboy high is coming, probably as soon as Summer/Fall if the president of the us gets his way. Don’t hangovers suck?

Shhhhh....do you hear that whooshing sound? It’s the collective sound of Nova wallets opening as mom is feverishly lobbying her daughter’s South American trainer for hours of additional one on one training.

100% spot on. Not every DA starter is an ECNL start but there are 2 and up to six DA players on FCV who can start for any ECNL team below u18/19. MU has a few as does Arlington who can compete with any ECNL player for s starting role on an ECNL team. I would be especially concerned if I were at McLean or Bethesda on a u15-u17 team. Those two clubs will be the top destination for elite DA players at FCV, MU and Arlington.

This will be good for NOVA soccer overall. Increased quality of play for the "elite teams" by actually having just a few of them. This area doesn't support seven (Arlington, Metro, FCV, Loudoun, VDA, BRYC, McLean) "elite" teams and we all know that. Yes, some existing starters (with both leagues) won't be starters any more. May not even make the team - that's true. This is life.

Your arrogance is astounding considering your alignment with a failed league.
I expect there will be good players displaced on both sides. This will be a tough blow for them, whether they are on the ex-GDA side or ECNL side. I would expect to see an uptick in competitiveness in the next layer down too, whether that is EDP, RL, or CCL.

Lmao. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the psychological definition of “projection”

The ECNL clubs can take maximum 5 players per age group. Would get on the phone fast. We already have called 2 clubs.

There should be just one team for the DMV. That would be an elite team anything else is just watered down.

This is not even true. Try outs for next year are not even happening for months.

LOL “take”. How cute. Message to ECNLers area wide. Your daughters spots aren’t safe, and it’s a lot more than 5 per age group.

This is what you wanted, right??

Oh, a lot of ECNL parents are gonna find out how watered down their teams have been.

I am amazed at the arrogance of DA parents. You do know that the ECNL teams are actually happy with their rosters right? This is the kind of thing that the ECNl teams do not want-parents coming and dictating on behalf of their kids. This is not a good look. Try out and see how it goes this summer or fall. ECNl teams are not going to add when they are not even playing when they have players who are already paying their year without a season. That would create all kinds of problems. These are seasoned clubs. They know better.
