Why are people still being assholes and snarky on here? Be nice to humanity right now we all may have our days numbered. |
It is not no contact for the shopper. That is what the shopper person is saying. It is only no contact for the recipient. |
The shopper is at work grabbing items. Gets in their car. Drops it off. It can still be low contact. I don’t know what you expect people to do. Not everyone has a giant basement or extra fridge and freezer to store 2 months of food. People have to eat and order groceries and the stores are open. Nobody is saying put in random nonsense orders for lemongrass and wine but god, people are going to order groceries. No country has shut down grocery stores. Get a grip on yourself. |
The odd of dying of Corona are very low. But yes, at some point we will all die. Most likely from heart issues or cancer. |
Heading out now before I start my workday.
Mangos(they are great right now!), strawberries, raspberries, avocados, and a box of salad mix. Despite my Costco run this weekend, the kids cleared us out of fruit. |
I just ran over to lidl for their harissa. That is all. Guess that makes me a sociopath. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
I went out today because I found out that Big Lots had toilet paper. I was able to buy toilet paper today!!!!! First time I had seen it in a store in over a month. It was 12 roll packs and limit one per customer but still. It was a beautiful sight to see TP on the shelves.
Then I went to Walmart because I was already out and about and gloved up and masked up. And also because when I made a grocery run the week before, they were out of a lot of things. And the time before that, which was two weeks earlier, they were out of a lot of things. Today at my Walmart (in Florida) they were pretty well stocked. I actually got a little teary when I saw all the ground beef, chicken and pork in stock. They even had paper towels. But no TP. There was a set up outside the store for people to wait in line. There were two employees standing outside both entrances holding tablets. I asked what was up with all that and the guy told me they are keeping count of how many people are in the store so it doesn't get too crowded. I asked him how many people were in the store right now and he said 140. So then I asked what was the limit and he said 700 people. |
I will go tomorrow to buy food for Easter dinner- tenderloin, potatoes, asparagus. I'll get baking goods to make some pretty Easter sugar cookies. I'll pick up food for the dogs. I'll also grab some chicken, milk, bread and fruit to cover us until mid next week. Oh- Ill also pick up paper towels if I find them... |
I won't pick up pimentto cheese. I just ate/finished half a container. I've been eating this since we started the social distancing and have gone through several containers. Can't seem to get enough of the stuff.... have to stop now. |
My second run to the grocery store this week is going to be for Easter candy. I will also do a third run to shop for easter dinner. Can't buy easter dinner from Lidl which is where I'm getting the candy and I'm not even remotely sorry about my 3 trips.

My list and strategy for next grocery shopping run is still taking shape. Last major grocery run was 4 weeks ago and I have still fresh veggis and fruits that will see me through another week easily and plenty of pantry staples. I want to be set for complete quarantine for 4 more weeks, so figuring out quantities.
Have to figure out the space in freezer and fridge, think of the menu, do another inventory of ingredients, and plan what to cook so that I can freeze most of it. We are not buying or consuming juice, cola, desserts, chips, cookies. We are eating a lot of fresh fruits and veggies instead of desserts and fries etc, but on the flip side our entrees have become more elaborate, gourmet, phenomenal, spicy, with tons of variety. Trying not to get processed foods and pre-made foods to the minimum. I am not in the mood to even deal with the frozen food packaging...also where is the world you recycle all the plastic bags??? They are piling up in my garage because I have not had the chance to go to the grocery store to recycle that Jhit! I have become super efficient in reusing the ziplock freezer bags, and I am freezing in glassware or baking dishes to the best of my abilities. I need to make sure that I can at least do some curb-side pickups, some stuff from online. Probably the run will happen tomorrow. I normally shopped 4 times a week for ingredients so I did not have to have a stockpile of everything... Milk, Mexican blend shredded cheese, paneer, feta, parmesan, mozzarella, ricotta, sour cream, cream cheese ranch dressing, Bread, Tortilla, Basmati Rice, Arborio Rice (small packet), All purpose flour, Multi-grain atta, Cream of Wheat, Cereal Ground Chicken, Chicken thighs, Bacon, Eggs, Italian Sausage, Smoked salmon, any white fish. Can - Coconut Milk, Pinto Beans, Jalapeno cans, baby corn, maple syrup, Ghee, Artichoke hearts, Olives, Green Jackfruit, Tuna, stewed tomato. Cilantro, Mint, Basil, Green Chillies, Curry leaves. Salt. Instant coffee. Yeast(?), Planter Roasted peanuts(?), Jif peanut butter, Ovaltine. Onions, Okra, Mushroom, Spinach, Bell Peppers, Cucumbers, Lemons, Eggplant, Red potatoes, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Corn, Tomatoes, Garlic, Ginger, Bananas, Oranges, Papaya, Water Melon, Cantaloupes, apples. Orange blossom water, Taco Seasoning, Oregano, Chaat Masala, Parsley, Italian seasoning, Coriander seeds. |
NP here. I have 2 fridge, 1 freezer and 1 mini-fridge (exclusively being used for cheeses). I have my basement with one room dedicated to cold storage. I have my pantry and stuff. I have my 40 bottles of wine (Thank you VA costco and the cash back reward) and I do the lemongrass thing. That is not random. I am consuming but not wasting. I am keeping the economy running. I am also isolating so that I am safe and others are safe from me. Good food is a solace right now and a privilege. I may be looking like a troll with unkempt gray hair and wearing ratty sweats - but I am eating well, recycling, don't have pets, and don't own a gun. I am peaceful, in a zen state of mind, not drinking/smoking/taking drugs - so not creating domestic disturbances. I will not be needing police, EMT, or firefighters. |
Intriguing list! What’s on your menu? |
Did our big Easter shop today. Lucked out and found large packs of tp and paper towels.
Our biggest driver for going to the grocery store in the past month has been milk. I’ve officially put a moratorium on cereal for the foreseeable future. |
I bought several large tins of whole milk powder. That has saved us from heading out just to restock milk. |
