Westland bus incident

Me thinks a bunch of MCPS bureaucrats are here venting against all the parents -- the people they work for. Just suck it up. You work with many many nutcases and we moms need to keep you all in line. Good for that mom for standing up to that loony.

this post is just so EXTRA. Paranoid much?

DP here but she may be right. The MCPS communications group does monitor social media and this site. Early in his position Derek Turner used to respond directly. It certainly is not above his staff to chime in anonymously. It would not be above others in MCPS either. When something hits the news outlets, the reaction within MCPS is not OMG I can not believe that our employee did X,YZ it is more who leaked, how do we spin this, its not fair the news covered this or parents are bad.

More telling though is that it is extremely weird that a bunch of parents are spro-enraged bus driver, hate middle schoolers, and are more concerned with whether an unauthorized mom stepped onto the bus rather than being upset that there is a large guy yelling profanities at children and driving dangerously while the school system ignores the complaints.

Thin, white (obviously), deceptively calm voice, hands clasped, passive-aggressive approach, calmly refusing to follow the driver's instructions, baiting him to erupt, ignoring the driver's response and instead repeating her ridiculous question (why is it so hot on here?). Well done.

As a fellow lawyer, I admit to respecting the game she brought.

You people are truly mind warpingly insane.

First, the parent entered the bus because she saw kids leaving the bus visibly upset and that no one was in the driver's seat. Of course a parent's instinct kicks in to investigate to see if something is wrong.

The video isn't form her filming. It is from kids filming. I don't know how you clowns think this video is something she produced. You're all insane.

Like OMG, you mean middle schoolers are immature and misbehave on the bus? Gee who knew? If you can't handle middle schoolers without getting enraged, then why is your job literally ensuring the safety of their well being ? Get another job. This guy has been filmed multiple times by kids cussing up a storm and flying into bouts of rage. The scariest part is that we all now hisnoit of control emotions affect the way he drives. Angry people will drive aggressively and put everyone's lives or bodies in danger.. again quit if it is so rage inducing to you.

Lastly, shut the hell up with the white privilege crap. It has nothing to do with it. You have a concerned parent investing why so many kids were leaving a bus upset with no one at the helm. Plus, the driver already had a bad reputation well known by everyone for being an ahole. You idiots are injecting race into it just to try shut up debate, like it has any relevance at all. If anything you should discuss why the driver was talking down to a woman like that. It clearly shows male chauvinism because you know he didn't respect her equally. You can bet he wouldn't ntslk to a large and intimidating dad like that. You want to inject race? Fine, why stop there? Inject the female equality issue as well.

How is this man still employed by MCPS?

Exactly.

Truth. Sad that underpaid bus drivers have to bear the brunt of this bad student behavior.

Why is this mom’s kid allowed to ride the bus?

They should be trained to deescalate, not tell kids to F off. That mom might have overstepped, but she was being protective of her kid and her neighbors’ kids, and I understand that impulse. Especially if MCPS had blown off her concerns. There’s so much abuse of power these days in general that everyone should be working double time to protect those who have less power. If that sometimes means overstepping, so be it.

In this case, a better word for overstepping is trespassing.

Please be a part of the solution. Spewing and repeating your garbage over and over the neighborhood boards, regional boards and the local news is not helping. Raise good young men who respect their community, elders and peers. Model this to them.

Yup.

She was manipulating the situation. She knew she would be filmed. I have zero doubts kids are terrible to each other on the bus. My kid was bullied and had property destroyed by other students. Do you know who is NOT responsible? The bus driver. He was paid to drive a bus.

Shame on the school system for over crowding busses, and shame on this mom making this driver a scapegoat for problems on the bus.

It's a name for a racist stereotype for suburban white women. It's as much of a dogwhistle for racism as the term 'thugs'.
