I wish this guy had been savvy enough to call the police and have them talk her off the ledge. It was brave of the bus driver to block her access to the kids -- God knows what a nut like that has planned.

Exactly, that’s what’s wrong with the kids today. They act like assholes and their entitled ass parents agree with them when they were in the wrong. When I was a kid when we acted like jerks and the bus drivers told us so and then we straightened our act up. We didn’t run to mommy.

If the driver told the kids to F*** off I’m sure it’s because the kids cursed at him first. Many of you on this board wouldn’t believe how your children acted when you are not present. Middle schoolers have the ability to push a lot of buttons and then feign hurt feelings.

Yep. I totally agree.

We put our children in the hands of MCPS to educate them, ensure their safety, transport them, etc., even when they act like brats. We also expect MCPS to problem solve troublesome behavior. If the driver was having trouble managing the kids, he should have requested and received support with managing behaviors. It is never acceptable for a MCPS employee to tell students to F off. Never. And there is undeniable proof that this happened. If the parent who boarded the bus broke some sort of MCPS policy, police should have been called. Perhaps having not done so is just another example of this driver, and then MCPS, not following protocol.

Also, wtf is wrong with you people defending a MCPS employee cursing at children? Absolutely ridiculous whoever cuts your paychecks.

You clearly have no idea what kind of language is used every day on the bus by middle schoolers. Your child can just record the audio to give you a taste. It is horrible. MCPS knows and knows the parents don't care.

THIS is why my kid is in 7th grade and has NEVER taken the bus to school. I need therapy to get over my trauma as a child on the bus and all the major incidents we had.

Yes, kids are awful on the bus. I’m a school counselor and there are some who bully others horribly. All the more reason the bus driver should be modeling civility for them. They should be trained to deescalate, not tell kids to F off. That mom might have overstepped, but she was being protective of her kid and her neighbors’ kids, and I understand that impulse. Especially if MCPS had blown off her concerns. There’s so much abuse of power these days in general that everyone should be working double time to protect those who have less power. If that sometimes means overstepping, so be it.
