So the school officials cancelled the exchange of the Chinese students but decided they will travel to Fairfax County to a local hotel.

We have the school officials making these decisions. Let that sink in for a bit.

They only understand economics. When everyone moves their travel, travel meetings, business meetings from there (I have one next month. You bet we are moving it.) then maybe they will understand the need for truth, cleaning up their act

If you read the details, the severe pneumonia symptoms start like a week into onset of fever. Way too early to tell what the fatality rate is going to be. Keep in mind that only like 24 patients have been cured. 17 dead, 24 cured doesn't sound so good. We just don't know yet.

Okay, this makes more sense. So far 17/1400 doesn’t seem terrible, but if those numbers are different - it’s China so add regular bureaucratic baloney plus an authoritarian government and obviously those numbers are different.

We have all been steeped in the culture/bits of the science that says we’re always just between pandemics and it’s weird the ways in which people react. Some people are clearly baying for mass death, which is gross.

This whole thing is grossly overblown. Regular influenza is much more dangerous and nobody is panicking about the flu. Word on today's conference call is that CDC is getting extreme pressure from the white house on Wuhan to divert all flights.

The problem is, there is no procedure in place for quarantining or treating any passengers they find with the virus--they would be released into the USA and told to see a doctor, which doesn't make all the hysteria seem necessary.

You are in denial. Do you know anything about the Chinese government? The numbers they are releasing do not reflect reality. This is a country that spends disinformation every single day.
