Retailers with awesome customer service

harris teeter on kalorama in adams morgan. cannot say enough about that staff. they open lines when the registers are backing up, and every member of their staff knows where EVERYTHING is. and they have loads of parking.

virgin america if you have to fly coast-to-coast with a small child. a flight attendant continually checked on us to see if we and our then-9-month-old needed anything. gave us free food and wine, too!! on the way back, we asked if the seat between us was empty when we checked in (it was) ... when we got to the gate, we asked again and found out that the person who checked us in had put a "courtesy hold" on the empty seat, meaning that we were able to tote our britax onto the plane for our baby. all for free. absolutely incredible.

lullaby baby in columbia. for what they charge, you'd expect to have your ass kissed there, but i'm putting it out there anyway because they definitely puckered up.

2d southwest airlines. One time I bought tix for my entire family for the *wrong* day. Did not discover error until we got to the airport. They let us all on the flight with no change fee, no mark-up nothing. I do not think any other airline would do that.

By way of comparison, once I missed a flight on USAir by mere minutes and they charged me $300 extra to get on the next one.

One of the other LL Bean cheerleaders again. I don't consider it taking advantage if I want to continue using a product but can't because after 3 months of wear and washing, the fabric gets weird (I can't really describe it more than that, I had pants I loved and the seams started puckering). I wouldn't just return something because I wore it out, and I wouldn't buy something to wear just because I could return it when I was done. That's really crappy, and I know people do it, and I agree it says a lot about their character.

Also going to second the love on Virgin America. They have been fabulous to us when traveling with kids.

PP who make the comment about people taking advantage of retailers. I am not talking about the LL bean posters, but about the people who used the product for years and then returned it. Or people that took 10 months or so to return a bathing suit (in middle of winter).

Of course, Amazon.com. They are awesome!

Wide-Widths.com is also great! I love the selection of boots.. awesome customer service too! The only thing I didn't like is that the shipping is expensive and there isn't an option to use Priority Shipping. {which I think would be much cheaper and faster}. That is really mild though compared to the great boots I got! The owner is really sweet and tells you exactly how to measure etc so you don't end up with too tight or too big boots.

Etsy.com This is just an adorable site. Lots of cute things too. Never had a problem with shipping or any item that I have purchased there.

Little Dudes and Divas love their bags and always super fast shipping!

American Airlines I love being on their flights.

I agree with the pp who raved about Arrowine - Although primarily for their cheese. Ardo (?), their cheese guy always remembers us and what we like, and makes recommendations tailored to our tastes. We moved from Arligton over a year ago and my DH had a chance to pop back in recently. It was like no time had passed.

Another is Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams. We had a small issue with the fabric on two chairs we bought. They quickly sent two brand new chairs in a different fabric, at no cost to us and with no hassles.

Amazon always resolves issues quickly and is great.

Ebags.com I just sent my niece/nephew some xmas gifts that I didn't expect to arrive before holiday (i was way behind). Next morning I got an e-mail saying sorry they couldn't get one item of three there before holiday so they refunded my entire shipping cost and gave me a $25 gift certificate.

Starbucks Two months ago they sent me an e-mail saying that I hadn't used one of my cards in awhile (it had been more than 3 years) and if it had been lost they would send a new one. A few days later a card with over $10 on it arrived.

Pottery Barn I've received items from them damaged in transit and they will immediately overnight a new one without waiting for item to be returned.

Ditto. I ordered about $3000 worth of stuff from LE which was being shipped in 3 boxes. I received them over the course of 3 days. One box never showed and the shipping slips were crazily mismatched (slips didn't match items in box, they listed items we didnt get, we received items that werent listed, etc...it was like blind, drunk, half-wits processed our order). They gladly reshipped what was missing, no questions asked. I returned more than half the items to a Sears with no problems. It's such an amazing relief to find people that actually do their jobs and fix a mistake. If they'd messed up and given me a hard time they'd have never gotten another penny from me. Since that time, I've spent way more there than the dollar value of the missing box.
