Retailers with awesome customer service

Another vote for Lands End.

In November I finally got around to returning a bathing suit I bought in May at Sears. They refunded the original amount I paid for it (*not* the sale price it is currently at) no questions at all.

It doesn't have to be in re-sellable condition?

NP here. I've never tried returning something that wasn't re-sellable but if you read their return policy it's almost like they're begging you to return things if you're the least bit unhappy with it. LL Bean is solid in my book.

Got good service at Apex Optical at 20th and L NW. Not cheap glasses by any means but first class service.

This thread should also be named "How to take advantage of good retailers." I mean, some of the stories here are just sad and cheap. The rest of us are paying for your dishonesty (or if not dishonest, just plain laziness).

Amazon! I bought all my Xmas presents on Amazon. For many items, if you want to return, just print a return label and UPS will show up at your door.

I also had a dispute with a vendor who sells on Amazon and Amazon backed me up 100% and credited my account in a matter of minutes.

I also like the ability to record and track all my purchases, going back years. I often forget which retailer I bought things from and then have to search my emails trying to remember when things don't show up.

Ah, Debby Downer has joined the thread!

Harris Teeter. The staff are always helpful and pleasant and they actually open lines when crowds start forming.

Think geek.

I ordered stuff the week before christmas, about 10 minutes before their cut off time for shipping same day and shipped it overnight delivery. It didn't make it out in time (no real surprise there- was literally minutes from the cutoff the week before xmas!) I spoke to someone before I knew if it'd arrive or not to ask what the chances were/if i could change the delivery option to something cheaper if it wouldn't make it out that night- he gave me his email and asked me to let him know if it made it out or not. It didn't, he had the entire shipping fee refunded. Very polite and great to work with.

Ooops. Just saw the other chain about retailers to avoid. Sorry.

Retailers to love: i may be alone but i have no complaints about Verizon.

I second Zappo's. Also had a very good experience with Harry and David this year.

No no no my friend. The name of that company should never be mentioned in a thread titled "Retailers with awesome customer service". If the title was "Retailers who you have to drag into the very Maws of Hell to get them to stop charging you for services you never requested", then yes, you could mention them.
