Her appeal was about a lot more than her face and body, it had to do with a whole look that she created, and I had to do with the values of the time. She was extremely skinny, but people saying she had no hips are really wrong. If you look at pictures of her in a bikini, she has a classic female figure, she absolutely has curves. I think female models today are a lot healthier for women to obsess over, because we don’t have to starve ourselves as much, but I also think Kate was incredibly sexy and that she had an it girl quality that made her one of the best of the best. Naomi was awesome too ( although she seems like an awful person in real life) , Not sure why people have to make this into a black versus white thing. Also, as a white woman sitting here on my fat ass, I’m tired of hearing this constant thing about skinny white women, and full figured black women. We all have different body types you know.

But she got lucky. It was timing.

Today she would not be such a big deal.

It’s not DCUM saying she has no hips... she has no hips, she has a boy body. That is how the industry describes her.

There is no hate for skinny white women it’s just that now most people don’t find that attractive. Many people prefer a Sofia V.

Sure she got lucky , in the same way Barack Obama got lucky, in the same way anyone “gets lucky.” She was the look of the day although let’s be honest, they look is still hugely popular. A Kim kardashian will eventually go out of fashion too. It’s not like women are making progress. It’s just replacing one body type (and usually by a girl around 25) by another to obsess over and objectify.

Kim K is not a model.

Sophia V will never go out of fashion.

Skinny whites women will be the minority soon, much to their dismay... why they voted for Trump.

Obama didn’t get lucky !

You missed the point entirely, but you seem like someone who just wants to make blanket statements and hate white people. Saying she "got lucky" in the same way that Obama got lucky was a way of saying Obama didn't get lucky at all. You're not talking to a trump supporter here. But go ahead, rejoice that white women will be in the minority. I really hate attitudes like yours, it drives people further away from each other.

I think she's quite beautiful, although not in a super feminine way, more in a visually striking way. Her body type certainly isn't something for young women to emulate, and mostly that super skinny frame makes models good walking clothes hangers. It's interesting that she is only 5'6'' and able to pull off the runway so well--that is unusually short for a model. But she has a certain presence and since of visual command that made that work for her.

Not symmetrical features at all. Show her picture to anybody from any part of the world who has not seen her before and do not know who she is and they will find her extremely ordinary. She is considered beautiful in a particular cultural context only.

On the other hand, show Paulina Porizkova's picture to anyone in the world who has not seen her before and do not know who she is and they will find her extraordinarily beautiful.

Kate Moss's face is very hard. A bitchy resting face and she has no innocence on her face at all.

Which is why she’s sexy. Somehow today sexy is underage and submissive.

She’s not my fave of all time (Christy is) but her David Yurman ads are some of my favorites. Agree she is incredibly photogenic.

NP. I think she’s gorgeous and intriguing—she does look dangerous.

I don’t think she is ugly but definitely not gorgeous. I can respect that she was popular and is an iconic model. But, the only people thinking she is something awesome are white. White women and white men have no idea what curves are and what shapely actually means. These are the same people who said Kate Bosworth has curves in another thread. Kate Moss was marketed for white people who fell right into the marketing.

Ok since you know what curves are why don't you explain it to everyone here.
Without being racist and narcissistic like you are on every thread.

No, it doesn’t.

You have decided to take it personally. The facts stand you reaction to them are your own.

You’re a trip and clearly a nut. This is a hard concept, but follow along, lots of people with clearly similar thoughts post on DCUM. I’m not whoever you are referring to, shocking I know. If you think Kate Moss was curvy then yeah, you are delusional and have no idea what curvy in today’s society means. Kate Moss was not curvy or shapely in her younger days. She had a very clear boyish figure and there is nothing wrong with that. Now her older self has a more shapely figure with her thicker thighs. It’s not racist to point out that white people tend to think super skinny is attractive and try to claim it as curvy. If you need examples of curvy women here are some...Beyonce, Christina Hendricks, Ashley Graham, Sofia Vagara, Jennifer Lopez. I chose women you would know...

At 14 she was more beautiful because she looked normal instead of extremely thin

She's been a model for as long as I've been noticing clothes - decades now - and she was known for her "heroin chic" when she was young. = extremely skinny. That's when heroin was thought to have a chic (I guess? Things were weird in the 90s) as opposed to now when it's thought of as what people turn to when they can't get their other opioids anymore. But Kate's been there through it all.

This is what 'skinny' was in the 90s. The 'heroin chic' wasn't just about 'skinny' also about grunge, shadows under the eyes and hollow cheeks. Kate Moss had a slight build and excellent facial structure that, with a little makeup, could be transformed into 'heroin chic'. You could do the same thing to Twiggy from the 70s. Heroin chic is far more descriptive of today's fashion standards (Kaia Gerber comes to mind). Look how many celebrity women can't get a designer dress for the red carpet. https://people.com/style/celebrities-who-designers-wont-dress/

Guy here. Kate was hot then (and clearly had hips here) and she’s not now. I think this is a lot of women analyzing here. Plus, people don’t like to admit it, but the smoking anc sexy look added to her total hotness.

You mean white guy here right?

You mean white guy who still believes they didn’t photoshop her waist in to make he look like she has hips.

Dude you are pathetic... if u are a dude..

DP here (female). So, you think every image/video of her is photoshopped? Do you engage in other conspiracy theories?

A simple google search on "Kate Moss Runway" will give you a ton of hits for video of her walking runways. It's clear that she is not 'skinny' by today's standards and she definitely has 'hips'. She's definitely sexy. If you choose to believe that all those are photoshopped, well, I'm sorry for you.
