North (Ellicott City) and South/West (Fulton, North Laurel, Clarksville). Asians are much less likely in central county (Columbia) than in the north and south parts of the county.

Are you kidding with this? Hoco has a HUGE Asian population. Route 40 is called Korean Way...there is an actual sign erected. Many Korean churches, many Korean businesses. There is an entire floor in a rehab center in Columbia devoted only to Korean patients. Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab, in Fulton, near Maple Lawn, and all the Baltimore universities employ many people of Chinese descent, so much so that several high schools have a predominantly Asian population. There is also a huge South Asian population in Columbia, Ellicott City, and Fulton.

Did you do any research before posting this? Are you basing this on one outing you took to one place?

Also there are disproportionately more Korean, Chinese, Indian school going kids because their parents are immigrant professionals working in organizations like APL, FDA etc. So a better place to check would be in companies, universities etc. Just a research methodology suggestion...

The data is here. Black students in HoCo schools, particularly at Middle and High School, have higher achievement in Math and Language Arts.

https://reportcard.msde.maryland.gov/Graphs/#/ReportCards/ReportCardSchool/1/E/1/13/XXXX/2019
https://reportcard.msde.maryland.gov/Graphs/#/ReportCards/ReportCardSchool/1/E/1/15/XXXX/2019

So more Black students and the Black students they have perform better. As a result, it’s hard to justify the demographic determinism arguments people keep repeating.

The data clearly indicates that for the average student regardless of race, HoCo provide a better education. And yet, as people claim here, HoCo schools are segregated.

Your own data does not support your assertion.

That data shows that black students in MCPS do better in ELA - across the board. For math, in ES, MoCo is higher. And, there are more Black kids who qualify for FARMs in MoCo than HoCo.

Hoco: 38.5% / 39.1% / 48.9%
Moco: 39.8% / 40% / 50.5%

So, all in all, seems that black kids do better in MoCo than HoCo.

My data? It’s the states data. I have no idea who you are but the fact that you would go through the trouble to misrepresent publicly available data is bizarre.

Math
MoCo: 35.9% / 21.9% / 39.4%
HoCo: 32.5% / 26.7% / 45.9%

goodness you're dense.

Look at the ELA data, and math for ES. Black students in MoCo do better in those four metrics, while HoCo does better for black students in MS/HS in math only - two metrics.

And I called it "your data" because you cited that data, which actually doesn't support your assertion that Black students do better in HoCo than MoCo (well, only for HS/MS in math). Additionally, the graduation rate for black students is higher in MoCo than HoCo.

So, again, how is HoCo better for black students than MoCo?

then why post on a thread about black students if you don't give a f?

I hope that ^PP who cited that source is not an example of a HoCo graduate.

Did you read? The area you call Korean way is in Ellicott City. The area around JHU APL is the Fulton, North Laurel, Clarksville area.

Looking at Demographics statistics, about 30% of the population of Ellicott City is Asian. About 12% of Columbia is Asian. About 15-18% of North Laurel/Fulton/Clarksville is Asian.

Yes, there is a higher density of Asians where I said, Ellicott City and South/West.

MoCo has a larger population overall including a larger population of poor people than HoCo. Period.

According to Kirwan Commission report, there’s not much difference. All of Maryland schools - for their cost - offer sub-standard education. Hence, the pols argue for the incredible tax increases coming via the Blueprint. Talk about rewarding failure! Maryland dreams of becoming Massachusetts but that involves raising teacher standards along with pay. Good luck with that argument when Apple ballot determines who governs. So it’s just a big handout. After pandemic the schools will be lucky to keep the ones they have...
