Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)
I’m sure they rationalized that it didn’t involve any children at Haycock. Embarrassed, no doubt, that they unloaded such a loser on the school. Think about it - Bloom is literally facing time in jail for putting kids at risk through his inaction. |
I think the school board probably knew. They covered up and lied about Langley abuse |
I don’t believe that because I don’t think the prosecutors would leave indictments on the table if they could have brought down people higher up in FCPS than a principal. |
Not the PP, but I am surprised, yes. Didn't it further say that it was not an issue of child safety??? |
| To be even fairer, it sounds like FCPS upper admin did everything correctly. New FHES admin came in (breath of fresh air, thank God), immediately reported what happened under Bloom, and he was immediately placed on leave. I’m not sure how they could’ve responded any speedier and I’m having trouble appropriating any blame other than to Bloom and these women. |
Agree, with the only caveat that some Haycock parents were told the issues relating to Bloom did not involve students. They apparently weren’t told the truth, which was that the matter did not involve students at Haycock. It does raise an issue about the officials’ candor, even if they acted promptly when advised that Bloom had been aware of the abuse at Freedom Hill and should not themselves be held criminally liable. |
FH parent here. This is shocking and really upsetting. Those poor, poor kids. I might have had some mixed feelings re: Mr. Bloom, but I never would have expected this type of lapse in judgement. I am sorry Haycock doesn't have a principal but frankly I'm thankful that neither school had substantive leadership from Bloom this school year. I am sure the FH staff is in shock. There are a lot of really great teachers and staff at the school. We've been very happy with our experience and the community. This is sad, sad news. |
Yeah, the answer they gave is a CYA, half-truth answer but probably enough to get them off the hook since it didn't involve Haycock students. It certainly doesn't change the perception of Fabio. |
AGAIN, HE WAS MOVED TO HAYCOCK BEFORE IT WAS REPORTED TO AUTHORITIES. |
| Given the amount of abusive treatment FCPS thinks is reasonable/ok (see-seclusion lawsuit) —this must have been really bad. |
Today just keeps getting better! That entire Board needs to be wiped clean, including Brabrand and his underlings. |
What kind of person suggests it’s a good day of any sort, when it’s revealed that an elementary school teacher and her aide were abusing students, and that the principal apparently shrugged? And Brabrand is the Superintendent, not a Board member. Do you even live in Fairfax County? |
OP here, and that was sarcasm! Granted it may not translated well without a callout. Rest assured I am being sarcastic. Yes, I live in Fairfax. All my kids go to Haycock. I have a set of twins and two older ones. And, by voting out the Board, you have the ability to not extend Brabrand's contract when it expires after the next school year. If the board is still in place, they'll probably extend.

Sent by Fabio, the loser-liar, out to the Haycock community ... |
This is completely non-sensical. The seclusion lawsuit has been out for awhile. |
