His letter is on the Freedom Hill Twitter page and it doesn’t suggest he didn’t want to move. Seven years at one elementary school is a fairly long time.

WHAT HAPPEN WAS child abuse

At some point these school administrators (almost always men) who don’t do the right thing when put on notice of misconduct by teachers and coaches under their supervision are going to realize this is a career-killer. Same thing happened to the Lake Braddock principal and the former principal at Langley.

They are supposed to have the backs of the kids, not just the staff.

Whoever in FCPS knew about this and passed him on to another school needs to be held responsible. I am a Fcps teacher and this is not ok. We are better than this. We aren’t the Catholic Church.

Who the hell in their right mind would back abusive teachers?! This is despicable. These poor children.

Disgusting. I have an preschooler with special needs - he is verbal but would probably struggle to explain what happened if he was abused at school.

It seems like the abuse is more likely when the kids are special ed/special needs. I have to think that the principals are at least subconsciously making a calculation that it is easier to "correct" the "mistake" of the employee rather than try to find a replacement. The pay is low and the difficulty of working with special needs kids can be high.

This is really shocking -- when there is at least one video and multiple instances/witnesses.

I was wondering this too (I originally posted the article) but I don't get what benefit there would be in moving him to a different school. This would be impossible to cover up long-term so if they knew about it, all they did was piss off the Haycock parents too by giving us damaged goods for a principal and forcing us to go through ANOTHER principal search. I don't see an upside.

Will be interested to see if other heads roll though.

The article suggests that Bloom knew of the misconduct at Freedom Hill before he moved to Haycock, but that neither police nor the FCPS officials responsible for approving Bloom’s transfer were aware until September.

But, yes, Brabrand and Zuluaga need to do a better job hiring principals.

Brabrand and Fabio outlier lied to Haycock parents when they said it wasn't "child" related.

Are you truly surprised?

I don't even know where these two schools are located and I am pissed as a FCPS parents. Why would they move this principal to a new school? the abuse is awful and they have to know the story will eventually come out.

FCPS needs to get their sh*t together.

Naively, yes. It's a wonder how this district hasn't imploded.

To be fair, they didn’t know about this when they moved him.

Now, I am confused and angry that we were told his absence was not child-related.
